I'm surprised PDA Florida hasn't tried for ECNL.
I haven't seen too many franchises be as strong as their founding clubs - Rush is another example. It's a risk with any franchise. You have to have great local management, which isn't always easy and they may never have the same expertise and dedication as those who built the base business. Local market conditions vary as well, making it tough to replicate consistently. It's an interesting concept but tough to execute.

Who is in a better position to get it: NYSCE or NY Surf?

        ECNL or GDA?

If talking GDA then NYSCE has a huge advantage though at this point I don't think either are getting GDA.

If talking ECNL, then both probably have a good shot because ECNL is reeling from GDA forming and will likely lower their standards to keep numbers up.

          Sorry. ECNL.

Completely agree with that assessment. It looks like GDA is done adding clubs for now anyway (there's plenty of grumbling that some of their new additions were less than spectacular). ECNL would be any easy lock for them, boys and girls

How do you see either one being "elite" as in the E of ECNL?

"elite" is an overused term. I only know the boys side of NYSC (I have a son in EDP) and at least from what I've seen they could hang with ECNL teams with little issue. I don't know about the girls side as my D is in ECNL. How are their girls teams?

btw not the OP but he's probably correct

I've been looking at that spreadsheet from the other thread. CA is killing it. ECNL or not, CA is pumping out various NT camp/pool players. What do they have that we don't? Great coaches? Year round sunshine? The Pacific air?

Other surprises are the 3 CO clubs, the various FL clubs, FC Stars and Tophat (NTH). All have impressive player success.

Very surprised to see Hawaii have 4-5 soccer clubs. Seems like a lot for the islands. Mainland tournaments must be a small fortune.

NYSCE has one on the list with accolades; NY Surf has no one listed but that may be because they are a new club.

Trying to identify what makes a club "elite" by looking at players. Obviously not the only criteria.

That geographic focus is why GDA is heavily focused out West, less so Midwest and NE. It's because those club crank out NT and top D1 players that GDA wanted them so badly. I think GDA will be much stronger out there as a result, while back the battle between ECNL and GDA will be much tighter.

NYSCE girls teams are excellent Up to u13 or u14. The last couple years they have beaten the top NY ecnl teams to win state championships and they are usually competitive at the NPL national tournament. If they were ecnl already they would be average at worst in the northeast ecnl league. They are constantly losing players to CFC and World class so they've become less competitive at the older ages. With their merger with the fcwe group it would be an ideal time to put them in ecnl as they would be able to field competitive teams right away.

Sounds like a perfect candidate, especially as ECNL needs more quality clubs. They have boys and girls so it's a win/win for both sides.

                          Sounds better than Surf.

Hey, they have two teams that have played in an august tournament now. One of them even won a game against a low level PA team. I think that they should immediately get GDA for that.
