I don't think a Surf boys DA would affect Cosmos affiliates, especially since Cosmos has academy already.
and in the greater NY/Wetchester area there's Red Bulls and NYCFC (bothMLS, although NYCFC isn't full on yet), FCW, Beachside in lower CT, and I forget who else. It would be a pretty tough case to make that the area needs another one

LI is pretty long. Would it make sense to have one between the Nassau and Suffolk County lines so players from both counties can drive inward? (Sorry I don't know my LI geography). Driving around here is not like driving in TX where you can go 75 mph for 50+ miles. And if you have more than one kid, how do you manage schedules? Car pools?

I would assume that if Surf is going after college coaches for the girls side they would do the same for the boys.

As has been pointed out, college coaches don't have time for DA. A few pull it off but it isn't very common and they still have to have someone else take over some coaching responsibilities. DA is ten months of the year; other leagues essentially ramp up when the college soccer season is winding down. One big advantage boys DA will have over GDA is the MLS clubs and all their professional coaches that only coach in the MLS. Women's pro coaches? If you care to believe....

There is only one surf boys team on LI so I wouldn't count on anything there until next year at a minimum. And it would most likely be another year after that before boys DA would be a serious consideration.

Do the boys have 1 DA team per age group?

I just noticed the Surf '01 team will be coached by the Fordham HC and the Surf '01 LI team coached by the SB HC. So when it comes time to create Surf supposed GDA, who will coach the combined age group team? Where will it be located? Will the Fordham coach take one agre group and the SB coach another? Can Surf have more than 1 GDA team?

Starting this year boys is U12, U13, U14 then combined U15/16 and U17/18.

I agree with the above poster that college coaches have little time especially for DA. Surf is smart to give the 01s to college coaches because they will be mostly sophomores in prime recruiting year. If Surf can nail some solid placements for those players it adds to their marketing narrative. But these aren't DA teams. If NY Surf gets boys or girls DA any time soon they'll have to change up their coach list

Surely Surf would have tryouts for either DA. I can't see them taking a whole team intact. Tryouts draws bigger fish. Bet some current Surf girls will remain on the regular Surf team and not land a GDA spot.

You guys are too funny. One NY Surf team has played in one tournament. The rest have yet to play a single game. They don't even have announced fields for half the teams. There is one boys team on all of LI and only two LI girls teams.

All of this talk of GDA and BDA is nonsense.

Yeah we're trying to convince the Surf cheerleader to shake his pom-poms elsewhere.

Okay this is getting too comical. Feinstein's bio says "He is currently for the technical director for the New York Surf Soccer Club, one of the elite soccer programs in the tri-state area."

How can you be "elite" with a club that hasn't even started a full slate?

Should at least win a couple of meaningful titles before making the "elite" claim.

By definition intact teams cannot become DA teams. DA uses mixed age groups and requires clubs to field players from multiple birth years to participate.

You're just jealous. Your kid isn't good enough for Surf.

Congrats to the BWG guys for garnering conference awards.

Now that McGlynn kid - is that the same kid the LI posters are arguing about over on BOTN? Judging from posters were saying, I was getting the impression the kid wasn't that good.

                              Guess that was legit jealousy....

Yes. It's the same one. I thought something similar. That if you listen to the clowns in BOTN it was all about nepotism
