    SUSA just bought ISA

Wow, KK has to be flipping out. In the past year they handed over all of their best players to ISA with the ISA/KK NPL partnership only to have ISA split off and sell itself to SUSA.

I wonder how many of those players are lost to KK forever.

Bayport/FCLI has to feel like crap too since they have just been displaced by the ISA/KK players/teams as the top rung of the SUSA empire.

How about all the kids on LI just play for SUSA. They will split them up into teams and divisions and the kids can play. It will be one giant intramural program only much more expensive..

Exposes some of the silliness of uber competitive youth sports. Go ISA said your player 10 minutes ago. Go Susa now.

Go Bayport! I mean go Coastal/FCLI! I mean go SUSA/FCLI! I mean go SUSA!

        There, I'm good now.

At least the kids involved have lots of different uniforms in their closet now.

Again, KK has to be livid over this considering they handed over their best players/teams to ISA for the NPL partnership. It will be interesting to see how many of those players KK is going to be able to lure back.

I also see on BOTN that the SYSL fields are up for sale/lease again. I guess that SYSL may lose those fields after all. I'm betting that SUSA makes another run at getting that lease.

Is the part about Larry Miller financing this venture true?

LOL, no. Larry has no money. That was a joke. I believe the SUSA money guy comes from Commack.

A lot is on the parents for this environment. The more leagues we have, the more premier divisions we can have. We are suckers.

And the return is from all the player fees and tournament fees?

If using Bayport/FCLI/SUSA as an example, I believe intramurals was a little under $300 a year, travel was around $90 a month and their "academy" teams were some number higher than that.

According to the Baymen website the SUSA Alliance/United teams cost between $110 and $175 a month depending on the specific team.

Up until a couple of years ago ISA was pretty much a girls-only program (yes they had a couple of one-off boys teams) with their strength being the training and recruiting skills of Ron and Sue Alber. They started a boys side that was pretty terrible the first year. They needed the KK partnership to get the girls side over the top and to make the boys side respectable.

With KK not being part of this deal and the Albers selling out and limiting themselves to coaching only a couple of the older teams until they age out, what did SUSA actually buy? ISA doesn't have fields or facilities and only a handful of coaches. About the only thing that ISA had of value was NPL membership but there is no guarantee that SUSA will be able to keep that, especially if KK robs the club blind of it's top players on their way out.

I hope that SUSA didn't pay too much because they aren't getting much for their money.

SUSA must be desperate. I just got a robo-call on my cell from them about something. Not sure what because I hung up right away.

I also noticed that their affiliated clubs (Commack, Dix Hills and Baymen) aren't really advertising tryouts much outside of the SUSA Academy teams. I'm not sure if this is on purpose to drive all the talent to the SUSA Academy teams or if the DoC just doesn't give a crap about the regular travel teams in those clubs.
