    Nysc+fcw

As much as I don't like BOTN they are reporting that NYSC and FCW are merging. Both clubs probably feeling the pressure of NYCFC and Surf. Now they're well poised for ECNL and DA. And better to.merge now while both are still strong then wait a few years when they're possibly weaker.

    Thoughts?

Surf is not a factor. I think it's due to NYCFC and GDA ... Look for that club to go GDA

NYSC was probably told that they weren't getting full DAP and the millionaire decided to cash in

If think Surf will be a factor down the road but not yet. But the rest of it makes sense - it's more about positioning for the future, DA, ECNL, etc. This bigger version would be able to offer something for everybody and will be tough to knock over

Definitely positioning for the future. FCW was quite large to begin with

Will this impact the Everton affiliation

Was wondering the same thing. They built a decent pipeline into FCW DA. I could see them moving into boys ECNL

No to boys ECNL ... Everton is charter member of NYSCL and its affiliate CCSL which are NPL shops

USSF probably said to FCW we will makes this happen but combined club must have girls DAP and we won't give girls DAP to Beachside

So wait what happens to EAFCW? They're the ones with boys DA but the announcement says it impacts all teams BUT EAFCW Boys

After battling it out on the field for years, New York Soccer Club and FC Westchester Elite announce one of the most exciting developments in youth soccer in the Westchester, NY region. New York Soccer Club, Boys’ and Girls programs, and FC Westchester Elite’s Girls’ teams(Not the Everton FC Westchester Boys)will join their soccer operations into one youth club aimed at boosting player development and player opportunities while also being able to compete at the highest levels including the US Development Academy League, at a national team level, in college and even at the pro level

BTON reporting that there is some incorrect info out there - from BOTN

BOTN HAS LEARNED THAT THE STATED MERGER AS OUTLINED IN THE ORIGINAL RELEASE IS FLAWED.

We are waiting for clarification from the attorney for FC Westchester. BOTN has been informed that FC Westchester did NOT merge with New York Soccer Club, but rather it was White Plains Elite, and that Carlos Meija erroneously misrepresented the nature of the merger and his contractual relationship with FC Westchester.

BOTN expects to have much more on this matter that will serve to better clarify the original release that is posted above.

                  This was just sent out

                  FROM F.C. Westchester

To the Everton FC Westchester community,

Today an announcement was made that Soccer Elite Club (White Plains Girls soccer club). (which uses the name of FC Westchester Elite only under their agreement with our club), has agreed to merge with NYSC in the very near future. They have decided to do this merger to strengthen the girls program and position the combined girls club to try and attain USSF Development Academy status, a new program for girls soccer beginning in 2017.

The girls programs will be branded NYSC Elite. The name FC Westchester should not have been used in the announcement. This inclusion has led to confusion and perhaps misleading information regarding the boys program.

This Girls merger will have no effect on the Everton FC Westchester Boys soccer program. We are not merging with NYSC. We have operated independently and separately from the girls program for over 20 years and will continue to do so. We have a separate Board, separate Director of Coaching and are totally separate not-for-profit entities.

Everton FC Westchester remains the only fully sanctioned USSF-designated Development Academy in Westchester County that has teams in all of the age groups: U18, U16 and U14. Next year the Academy program will be expanded to include U13 and U12.

NYSC was given U14 Academy status in 2014 along with dozens of other clubs in the country when the US Academy was expanded to include U14 age group (in an effort to include more players nationally for recruitment into full academy clubs). However, they do not have full Academy status at the U16 and U18 age groups, the most critical years for college recruiting.

I apologize for any confusion but as the landscape of youth soccer continues to change, we remain very stable in our position with the USSF as a fully sanctioned Development Academy.

too funny - drop a letter off your press release and everyone goes mental

Long term is EFCW going to survive? Surf coming into their territory, NYSC going strong and now bigger, NYCFC...

FCW has full USSDA and a very nice soccer complex with long term deal. They have had those fields for like 20 years. Surf, NYSC and others have no fields to call home. Long term future is bright.

The PR gave the impression that FC Westchester was merged ... It was poorly written

The only real competitor is NYCFC. NYSC is focusing on girls DAP. Surf is a start up focusing on girls.

None of them have access to the fields like EFCW
