if you want to play lopsided brackets that favor SUSA teams, then the beautiful complex on Carlton Avenue is the place for you. If you want to play some good blue-collar teams go to Jersey.

Support the local tournaments. Screw giving SUSA business. Haven't they done enough damage to LI soccer?

The problem with staying local is playing teams that you ordinarily meet in league play. Sometimes it’s nice to see how you stack up against those Jersey EDP teams.

SUSA tournaments are made for you to pay to get beat up on by several different SUSA teams all on the same weekend. Don't do it, you'll regret it. All the other tournaments you mentioned are hit or miss. I believe they try to put everyone in a fair bracket. Not alway easy for them though, when they dont have equal numbers of teams at the same levels applying in each group, plus its tough to actually evaluate where a team really belongs. Nothing sucks worse than getting put in the top bracket when you are a mid-level team. You want there to be some chance for a good competition. When you get properly placed, a tournament is a good time, if not its a morale killer.
And yes, it could be team you face in the league, but if its a good matchup who cares? After 3 full years, we've only played teams in our leage 2 or 3 times out of at least 12 tournaments, so not that frequent.
I think the Northport Tournament is the best run of them all, but the other ones are fine, no complaints.

At one of the SUSA tournaments last year, the #1 ranked (in the country) SUSA/Albertson Boys ECNL team was placed in the middle bracket, while the lower ranked SUSA EDP team was placed in the higher bracket. Simply a points grab, ECNL team beats all the teams to grab the points to stay top ranked and the EDP team gets higher points if they win to bring their ranking up. No way the #1 ranked team should be playing, at any tournament, in anything but the top bracket

Susa is several teams deep in every age bracket. Just because the team seemed really talented, doesn’t mean it wasn’t the B or C team. My kid’s top team doesn't play the Susa tournaments with local clubs and have gone off the island while a local tournament was in swing. It’s no fun for one team to beat up on another team and play keep away.
