Coaches want to win and keep their jobs. While I agree anything above 22 for HS level is absurd, it's always the parents of the marginal players who are the most worried when a new player joins.

They aren’t looking to improve their rosters. That is not PDA’s business model.

Yup. Eliminate any possible competition by making shady promises to elite players, then hide them away on the bench as long as they will tolerate it. And then claim the "player pool isn't deep enough" for additional teams. It's our fault really for falling for these tactics, but it doesn't make them right.
