Just For Fun - US Youth Soccer Promotion and Relegation Model

How would it look in the US if we had a promotion / relegation model for youth soccer where teams could compete regardless of their academy affiliation?

    National Division - ??
    Regional Division Tier 1 - ??
    Regional Division Tier 2 - ??
    Regional Division Tier 3 - ??
State Division Tier 1 - EDP (Up to PREM 3)
Local Division - MOSA / NCSA, etc...

I would relegate discussions like this as unrelated to soccer.

        This is a stupid concept.

Promotion/relegation encourage win at all cost and that is the worse thing you can do when you want to encourage creativity and development.

        Please stop.

If your kid outgrows the team they are playing on move to an other team.

So how do we create an even playing field for all teams regardless of academy affiliation?

If you have a team that is developed the correct way and thrives on creativity why does anyone need to leave a team simply to join another team which has access to more competitive leagues?

Awful concept this here, GA already exists as the top of the pyramid with the best clubs in the country in it. This concept is truly a foreign one that would not pass in the States. Probably some one off teams that are complaining they are left out. Silly stuff which no one cares about.

GA is not now or ever will be the top platform for soccer.

Best clubs in the country? Is day drinking a thing?

Something along those lines but required for everyone. The current system is broken. I am in no way advocating for a win at all costs structure. Just trying to have an adult conversation. The current structure is focused on $$$. It's a business. Parents feed the business.. Wash rinse, repeat.

Sorry for using TS to have a soccer conversation. Everyone go back to bashing each other!!

We live in an expensive capitalist country with no regards to quality over bragging rights. It isn't getting fixed, would be nice but isn't. We have multiple national organizations governing this which says it all.

Yes it awards for performance. But here's a funny thing: you can develop AND have a winning team. The two don't have be to be mutually exclusive. Here's the other funny bit: if you're losing all the time you're probably not developing players.

Anyway, there's way too many leagues and clubs making a nice living with our current alphabet soup system. They won't give that up, even though it would be good for soccer

There is nothing wrong about winning! Your definition and mine are probably different. You can play to win at all costs with both creativity & development. There is nothing wrong with winning. Before ECNL expanded from their original group the league was much stronger. Expansion led to weaker clubs and a dilution of talent. The weaker clubs live off the ECNL Badge and do nothing to get better. ECNL should relegate those clubs who continuously have losing records and are at the bottom of their regional league.

The little town clubs are constantly complaining on here. Pretty pathetic. If you want your daughter to play at top level just move to GA club. Plenty of good ones around in our area and they play in top league in the country as well. This relegation talk is just sour grapes nonsense.

You can't "win at all costs with both creativity and development". Win at all costs means forgoing everything to just get the win.

And why do people think that the "talent pool is diluted"? You really think their are so few top level players? Think about this logically, almost 1.7 million girls play soccer and about 2k play in ECNL in any given age group. So that is less then 1% of all players are currently in ECNL. Granted ECNL doesn't have u12 and below but even if you used the same 2k all the way down to u8 it still comes out to 1.5%. That isn't diluted, you are just delusional.
