Academy title should really be part of a professional team's in house pipeline for youth talent being trained to eventually make first team.

As a name for regular clubs, it got muddled by the "Development Academy" league which meant clubs could say they played Academy soccer. Then more travel clubs realized putting the words "elite" or academy" in their name would get gullible parents to pay them more just to play in the NPL.

It’s a great program, we’ve been doing it as a supplement to our GA club training and actually find it better training and playing with pretty high level players from throughout the state. Pretty much like an All Star team and great exposure opportunities as well especially at the older age groups.

Agree, great coaches and ODP provides terrific competition with players that are at the top of the youth footballing pyramid. Was surprised to see the level was higher than our GA league competition but then again as mentioned these are All Star teams after all.

This is hilarious since ODP is missing all of the best GA and ECNL players.

Just simply not true. There were 4 ECNL players on my D team - including her and the teams we played against had more than half the team from ECNL - FC Bucks etc. There are also a ton of GA girls. But the other kids were definitely amazing and honestly many better than my kid that play either local or EDP high level. It was eye opening actually.

i'll never understand people who play for an ecnl team and also do odp - al this constant "resume building" work for kids soccer.
