Because the older players grew up playing years ahead and against boys while other countries didn't put anything into the women's programs. Now that other countries are putting in more, the US has handicapped the youth girls to 1 or 2 ages up and usually never against or with boys and the USWNT is ancient in terms of playing age the women's side will slide back down to the men's level.

        How so?

The other tiki taka euro teams didn't win or advance because not all teams are able to compete with bigger more physical players or just weren't ready for it. Or maybe they didn't care about winning and instead focusing on progressing against a different style of play.

Euro academies and US academies do have different agendas and players work their way through that system. If a club is looking for big strong and aggressive then players need to be that or be left behind. If they are looking for skilled players that are unselfish and quick thinkers then that is what they need to be.

Most PDA Blue teams play out the back, but others don't. There is no rule in zarephath written on an ancient stone if you're looking for it.

Nobody cares. PDA Blue is just another team these days. Nothing special.

Or the perfect pass that rolls harmlessly out of play since the receiving teammate didn't see or anticipate the play and it then looks like the player passing just played it out of bounds. The receiving player may get close to it and you will hear good hustle from a few but the reality is that she blew it.

Or as others have already mentioned the "good" player that takes extra unnecessary touches and then plays it after the play has broken down/defense can recover.

Why not throw a hospital ball at a teammate that could have been played early and given the receiving player more space/time but instead chose to have a few more video moments of their own for posterity.

This is correct. Almost every single player on the USWNT played on a boys team as a child or in high school and club. Look at all their bios. It's really hard to compare them to the girls in NJ and what is happening with women's soccer now. People are forgetting there are MANY girls all over the state are on boys team and when they decide to emerge and play on the girls side - a lot will change.

Idk. Every older PDA group I've watched plays very direct.

Same. Every team I have seen play is direct. It works well for Blue most of the time especially at the younger ages but gets tricker as they get older and the other teams perfect how to defend it.

"Playing direct" does not mean "continually bomb from the back field and the kids rarely touch the ball".

                              Kick and run style.

Can you share a youtube video of PDA Blue where they play "direct" and "bomb out"?

I have watch a couple of games and rarely observed that. Most of the time those teams have 70% possession of the ball.

Some confuse "high press" as playing "direct" but its just an intersection where you don't really cycle the ball when you win it on the opposing 1/2.
