We knew GDA was going under before the 19-20 season. Our daughter played for NYCFC GDA and the coaches told us that within a year the boys MLS clubs were pulling out of the BDA and they were therefore dropping GDA and suggested all players join WCFC Girls ECNL. Some parents were courted by TV, and he promised them National team call ups and HUGE college commitments and left. We are having the best laugh now at those who left.

Their call-ups weren't their players. They were either brought in Shaun Cryer or recruited. I only know of one "home-grown" player to get a call-up.

Interesting. So, STA travelled into NE last weekend. A quick glance at their scores:

06: 2-2, 3-2 (W)
05: 0-0, 2-0 (W)
04: 3-0 (L), 2-0 (W)
03: 5-0 (L), 1-0 (L)

They are mid-table across the board, except for their 05 which is at/near the top.

If the competition is "EDP like", that tells me that STA is "EDP like", no? So, where are they leaving to? Other EDP teams? Surely "EDP like" players can't make ECNL teams, correct?

So obnoxious. Obviously STA has players who can play in the ECNL. The ECNL is the top league which means on average it has the better clubs and players but that does not mean no other player can arrive. Thats like saying well, no player in the Championship can ever play in the Premier League. Saying it is purposely stupid.

But...but...but...we were just told the competition STA plays is "EDP-like". Just read it here. Obviously, STA isn't blowing the doors off this "EDP-like" competition, rather they are slotted exactly where they should be (i.e. win some, lose some). That tells me that the players are, collectively, on a par with their "EDP-like" competition.

If so, I would think they would have a hard time just waltzing into an ECNL roster en masse, as it's made out to be. Or, are you telling me there some ECNL players that are more in the "EDP-like" category than we are being led to believe?

You fools can't have it both ways: You can't continue to denigrate a competition then blabber on about the exodus of those players into better, quality teams.

Soccer is a team game. you can have a multiple of good players but a weak number of players that give up goals... all teams, including edp, can have very good players that can make an ecnl roster......let me flip the script on on you a bit. how do you know that if not for the good players on their roster, that these STA teams would be worse than mid table?
