Are you kidding? You must be joking? Capable of playing for PDA Blue? Is it that high of a bar right now?

Good point! The high bar has definitely shifted out of blue. It was a matter of time and now it’s here.

The bar is CSA Bergen now…didnt you see 2 players went there. Sad state of affairs at 06 age group in general, not just STA.

STA are a great club and have some phenomenal coaches lined up. Yeah GA has been underwhelming but it’s a young league that is learning and growing. Part of the process.

People looking to sign their kid up at STA need to be aware that the club is changing. Tim leaving is a big deal and people shouldn't downplay it. Kelly will follow him and losing Kelly is also big deal. They have lost Becky who was probably one of their best coaches. Neil Mile is gone which is another huge loss.
So, STA was a great club but will not be the same next year

Each coach had their following. These coaches are now gone. It is hard to find and hire experienced good coaches. They are in demand. Ylon is a decent person his style of coaching is not liked by a lot of parents and liked by others. Club is a good club overall and the parents are generally good people that do not take the process too seriously. It’s essentially a nice atmosphere to play in. Some kids/parents want more. You could do a whole lot worse than STA but you could also do better. STA has had some very good teams over the years but they have never had a powerhouse team in the high-school years. Most of the kids that stay play D2-D3. Or do-not play after highschool. Overall I give the club a solid B and put it in the 80 percentile of clubs in New Jersey. The GA gives this club some structure but the jury is still out on how effective the league will be. That has been our experience other people’s mileage may vary.

Spot on about typical GA placement usually D2-D3. Nothing wrong with that if it’s the right fit and with a top academic institution!

STA is just a name, it’s not the same club that it was 5 years ago. The new ownership is squeezing every dollar they can out of the brand name but people need to realize that you aren’t getting the product you think you are purchasing. Look at PSA, if that’s the level and quality you want then go to STA. If you want more than that, look elsewhere.

Great mindset as it’s not all about chasing college scholarships aimlessly! That’s why GA has it right and ECNL surely does not. ECNL is all about stats, commitments etc. GA provides a nice balance between still being able to play college at D2/3 and a relaxed environment focused on fun and development.

You do know that ECNL is a big conduit to players who choose to play D3. At every ECNL event my daughter has attended there are many top D3 schools that attend and successfully recruit ECNL players. Go check the rosters of the top 10 D3 programs and see the clubs that are represented. As far as chasing college athletic scholarships that are not as much as people think D3 offer both Merit based and Grants to student athletes. If you daughter is not playing in a P5 Conference or mid major school with great academics then if your lucky to play at a top D3 school is the way to go that is strong on academics and very competitive as well.
