    Best township clubs in NJ

Always a lot of chit chat about the academies on here but which town clubs are some of the best in NJ?

Westfield, West Morris, Parsipanny, Toms River, Marlboro, East Brunswick all come to mind as standouts that have a great history. Any others?

    Wall and Peninsula

      Great question.

      Agree on Parsippany.

Only other 2 I can think of in north NJ are Wyckoff Torpedoes and Glen Rock

Toms River has some great teams and a terrific partnership with PDA.

EB is atrocious and not fielding teams at many levels now.

Would put Real NJ well ahead of Hamilton.

There is no right answer but rather what works for your family. A township team should first and foremost be fun for the young player. You want your child to learn not only fundamental skills and technical abilities but also to want to come to training with a smile. You want the young player to love soccer. Every child is different but you want to play for a township club that promotes these values. At an early age you want coaches who want to incorporate these skills and build a foundation for further development when they get older.

Best advice I can give is go to a pro academy environment as young as possible. Do not waste time with amateur coaches at town clubs that have no clue what they are doing. Cut your losses and move on.

Lol. Those rankings are meaningless. Typical town soccer parents all they care about is “rankings”. All the academies don’t care about rankings and points. If you want to play high level and not worry about the meaningless rankings look at places like CSA Monmouth and others listed above. Wall is nice for rec and local travel, but that’s about it.
