ECNL had terrible teams, but never had games as lopsided as some of the GDA games. And travel to places like Rochester are far further than league games at ECNL.

Do many players want to play HS? Sure. Would the elite ones skip it if they were skipping it for something far better than ECNL? Of course. But GDA was not far better. The conversations around HS were not what was cited when PDA, FC Stars and WCFC left the GDA. None of them said they were leaving because their players wanted to play HS. If the GDA was designed in a way that actually was an improvement over ECNL, plenty would be fine with giving up HS soccer.

Lolol. PDA left GDA because they didn’t have coaches who could show up to both PDA and Rutgers at the same time. Also, once they realized that GDA was all about technical play they just had to bail out hard. They convinced parents “high school, substitutions” were just not what parents wanted. Yea right. Lame excuse.

Look at current PDA Blue games. Same style. Press hard, sub tired players, win ball up field so that players can’t be exposed as soccer anachronisms; poor first touch, same dribble, overuse of dominant foot, use half backs to add bodies. Focus on press, physical presence, win 50-50s.

This argument will continue with no substance of truth but rather what people perceive is the truth and how parents will continue to rationalize which is better. ECNL is the better alternative for the top 1% of those players who want to play at a high level (P5 Conference) universities. For everyone else your all in the same bowl and need to prove yourself individually at camps, clinics and college showcases. You must learn to advocate for yourselves because you cannot rely on your club, team, coach or your parents if you want to play soccer in college. Let the parents argue what’s the better league it’s the player who must prove themselves.

So you think that USSF made all of these clubs who were previously ECNL change their coaching methods and playing style by joining GDA? That suddenly all of these ECNL clubs would be about "technical play"? Lolol! Why do you think USSF chose PDA to be in GDA? To change it? Lolol! Was Empire United all about "technical play"? LOLOL!

Bottom line is that USSF did nothing to make GDA a program any different from ECNL other than make it 10 months and prohibit HS soccer. It offered essentially the same product with a different promise and failed. This in no way proves that there isn't a market for something better.

Pda south had a chance take over north’s place in GDA, but they passed.
GDA was going downhill and they stayed NPL with hope of getting ECNL which happened deservingly.

Because it’s a business and they are in it to make $ not develop soccer players or do things the right way like in UK/Europe. So they will keep repeating the same mistakes. Do you think that quality and development matters? Only having a full roster does to bring in revenue.
