Never said anything about keeping things as they are. Have said that there is plenty to do in terms of encouraging interest in coaching careers for women earlier in their lives so that when it comes time to hire a coach, there is a proportional number of qualified women coaching candidates. Simply forcing clubs to hire women coaches when there aren’t a proportionate number available compared to men is essentially lowering the standards.

It’s like De Blasio’s trying to show NYC specialized schools admissions is racist because only 7 black students were admitted to Stuyvesant last year without looking at the fact that fewer black students even applied than in years and decades passed. The problem to be solved is in communities in preschool and elementary school, not in 9th grade admissions.

Welcome to girls academy soccer. The whole system needs to be blown up and exposed for what it is. It’s a boys club on the coaches side and an unaffordable sport for kids from disadvantaged neighborhoods and low income families that can not afford thousands upon thousands to play. CSA (and others too) should do something about it.

Totally agree more representation is needed, but where will all these female coaches come from. Female players that reach the college level generally are planning for paying careers. My D is pre PT/exercise science and has had to take two sports management classes (imagine paying 60K a year for that degree) and said it's almost all guys in those classes.

Thank you for speaking the truth. Strong female role models are sorely needed! You mean to tell me that the good ol boys club wouldn’t just hire their friends? Of course. Hence the 100% white male coaching staff at GA level. A bit of a chance for qualified women coaches would not be too much to ask for.

Do you have any proof that a female that was equally qualified as a male was passed over for that male? Otherwise you are just making unsubstantiated claims and in our current climate it’s always better to stick to facts.

Its not our obligation to show proof, its the obligation of nay organization represents society as a whole, if it does not, then questions will be asked and the assumption will be made that the network is corrupt.

The EEOC has created laws to try and prevent what is happening in youth soccer.

It trys and fails to prevent those in charge from hiring people that look like them

mentorship programs can easily be created for more women soccer coaches.

we have created mentorship programs in my company and although not perfect, they work just find and dandy

Sure ideally we'd like to see more female role models, but there's no reason a quality male coach can't do just as good a job with girls teams. It's all about the coach. The nation is sorely lacking in coaching talent regardless of gender. Agree with above that not many women are choosing coaching as a profession, maybe doing it as a side gig more for fun or when their kids start to play
