Others never get it until their kid quits out of frustration with club hoping, not having fun
What makes me confused though is some of the parents may not have played soccer but did play basketball, football, hockey or baseball. Anyone can see whether a kid has coordination, agility and just that fluidity of motion and body shape that equals "athletic."

too many equate "athletic" with "skilled." They're often not the same things. Parents and even many coaches think the fastest, biggest kid barreling down the field, head down watching their feet, can't make the net to save their lives, is somehow a better soccer player

Welcome to America! BIG is GOOD.

That's why our performance in FIFA has always been terrible.

#1 should never matter as it should be overcome by #2 .... the real decision makers .. sadly, tryouts at most clubs are shams and clubs are run as business first, soccer somewhere else.

So ... trainers and coaches deserve loyalty from the players and parents because they "invest" on them.

BUT trainers and coaches can blame what they called CLUELESS parents and dump PAYING players they deem "bad" anytime in favor of prospect players, who may start with NON-PAYING. PAYING players do not deserve meaningful playtime. Nor do they deserve development as soon as the next better player shows up.

WHILE AT THE SAME TIME THEY ARE MILKING THESE CASH COWS.

What a perfect business! Take no accountability!

When things go sour --> The problem is your DNA, your daughter/son
When things go well --> the coach has done you a great favor.

When players leave --> it is heartbroken for the coaches ('s wallet)
When coaches cut/cold shoulder a player --> it's called development.

            WOW.

This X a million. They are quick to use the "it's a business" card all the time, but then pull out "it's a commitment" when things don't go the way they want.

Truth! This is exactly the business model at places like PSA, CSA, STA, PDA etc you name it. Shame what the system has become. Just can’t trust too many to do the right thing. Lots of empty promises and when things don’t go well it’s never their fault and next in line.

Coaches and clubs want our money and our money only. They call us clueless and tell us to take a hike.

When our daughters and sons aren't doing well, they tell us to "take a reality check". All of the sudden now we aren't clueless parents anymore. We are expected to know something.

They just want to have it both ways.

The idiot that said paying customers "think their entitled" is so out of touch with reality. Its not even worth arguing the point with someone so ignorant.
I am a paying customer. I am entitled. Its not a privilege to play for you. I am entitled to good customer service, quality training, professionalism, results of my kid getting better, my kid being in a positive environment....and so on. If I don't think I am getting what I am paying for than I have a choice to go elsewhere. Without us paying customers you coaches would have no business. Period

I have seen so many vindictive coaches over the last 10 years in my journey with my three girls playing soccer at a high level.. coaches not allowing players to train with other coaches in their off time to train with, favoritism towards certain families not based on talent, daddy coaches, at the higher levels, favoring their daughter and their daughters friends, Being in the dog house because you decided to be up front with the coach, that your daughter was looking at other options for next year and wanted to see what was out there, playing talented at players at positions that suited the team rather then the girls long term development of the player and replacing that player when her size didn't matter any more on the field. The more you know, the more you hate the business of youth soccer

Waaah waaah waaah, it’s a business and the parents have created this mess. Don’t blame the academies just because they are making money to feed their families and make a living.

You can still make money not being a dbag.

Exactly...Stop blaming everyone else including your customers, when customers leave for their perceived better opportunities. Whether that is because of parents false sense of players ability, better competition, exposure to colleges/MLS, or your lack of abilities. Change something within the club pricing, trainings per week, videoing of games, breakdown of said video with the team, covid credits, do something different at your club that you can control.

The courage to change the things I can,
