    Game days

For game days and tournaments is it normal to roster x amount of players? Do most clubs at the older age (13u) do this?

Yes. Very important to roster players. Can't play without players.

Ignore the idiot above me. Yes, there is a specific roster limit for leagues and tournaments. Check the rules for your specific league and the age group you're interested in. Typical gameday roster limit for full sided (11v11) games is 18 max. Mileage may vary depending on where the kid is playing.

Most tournaments allow between 22-24 on the roster but only 18 can dress for a game.

Very true about roster limit vs. how many can dress for a game. Check the rules and you'll understand exactly what to expect. This is exactly why there are posts on here about ECNL teams carrying up to 30 kids and telling people either not to come to showcases or come but don't expect any minutes.

You should be clear about the rostering practices of your club and specific team. Many teams simply have 18 or fewer players on a team roster and everyone who's available dress. But it can change in older age categories, and especially at some types of clubs.

ECNL is 18. Most teams roster the full 18 at home, but a slightly lower amount on the road.

ECNL showcases allow you to roster 26 for the event, but 18 for each game. So if there are 3 games at the event, team can choose 18 players from the 26 for each game.

^ correct. Then regular league games are also capped at 18. MLS caps games at 18 also. Other leagues vary, and obviously it varies by field size also. Refs check the rosters before games
