If in a few years it isn’t their academy players playing on their USL 2 teams, it will say something about their development vs their recruitment.

For top players, there are much better paths to choose at the present time but the USL plan has the potential to elevate soccer overall in the US and for more US players to emerge at top levels whether it be MLS or overseas.
Exactly. This is a proper structure. Yes I understand not everyone wants to be or can be a pro but if you're going to pay all this money, shouldn't you try to go as far as you can? Whether it's college or pro, go for it. And if your kid wants to play for fun, NP. But don't spend all that money at these silly clubs like MF and then your kid never plays again after 18. What's the point? If that's the case, just play at your local town club. Save money. But no. Parents want to live through status.

Everyone talks pay to play but don't realize the ones paying $4k are the ones dictating the market. If these families weren't silly to pay all this money for a B or C team, prices would calm down and poor clubs wouldn't exist.

What's MF's structure? Get you to college for a 5% scholarship? Woah! Kid went to college! Come on. Let's be real.

You hit the nail on the head...the well to do upper middle families are the ones driving the market and are the target consumer for the academies. You know nothing about the game or have any perspective on what it takes?? No problem we’ll take your $ anytime any day.
