Another English manager bites the dust

Any chance Frank Lampard comes over to the USA to show us how it’s done? It’s amazing how all the big clubs in England have non English managers and yet we end up with so many Brits coming over here to coach....

No thanks plenty over here collecting a paycheck already cause there are too many non English coaches in England. Might be biased but the Portuges coaches Nuno Espiritu, Jose Mourinho are 10x better than the run of the mill in the Prem.

Being one of the best players ever does not mean you will be one of the best coaches.

But being a horrible English player typically means you are a top notch coach. Hence the magical draw of the clubs with heavy English coach representation in NJ.

I guarantee you that 99% of these parents who complain about Coaches and training have never played soccer or have never followed the game and think they are experts. I would bet the same percentage did bot properly vette the DOC’s or Coaches at their club either. They have no idea about their licenses, coaching experience or playing experience. But they become experts in their own minds.

I am not sure why any of you are surprised, British coaches are absolutely terrible and only believe in physical kick and run soccer. Unfortunately now they are trying to mask themselves by talking about possession style but still can not teach possession based soccer. To make it worse our region and country is filled with wannabe British coaches that can not make it in England and have come here for an easy payday. Please wake up ppl and hold these scammers accountable.

I did this to myself. I didn't vet a potential coach, ended up signing on, and then found out later he never played soccer after high school. I didn't even get confirmation of his license, but supposedly he has a C license. Never again am I going in trusting someone, but instead treating a move for my kid like an interview. It was my fault, but I did learn my lesson.

Your an idiot .....the coach does not have to play past highschool to be a good coach. There are plenty of great coaches that understand the game and understand how to teach the game vs college d1 or pro past players who want to get into coaching. Playing the game and teaching the game are too different things and that's a fact. Shows how little you know about soccer and player development. Go do some research and look into who are the greatest coaches in the world with no decorated soccer player backgrounds and then let us know.

Pretty sure you're an idiot. Not the OP, but I don't know of any great coaches who didn't at least have some kind of playing career, even if it was at a lower level. I don't think there is any translation between a HS player and someone doing well at coaching soccer. Regardless, I think it's unlikely for someone who hasn't experienced a high level of a given sport to be able to move on to coach at a high level. There will always be outliers, but in most cases, I think the correlation between playing at a high level and coaching will always be there.

3 of 9 are English and they have been here so long they barely qualify. MFA may not be a fancy club, but the staff has some excellent coaches.

TRUTH. Strength and pace, that's all they value, forget about technique and soccer IQ.

The MFA staff gets the best coaches and the players get nothing.

If the UEFA coaching licenses expired, or needed to be renewed, perhaps the teams would be able to learn something beyond kick and run away. Oh well.

Can vouch for that...One of the best coaches, training wise anyway, was a guy who didn't play in college and coached both of his daughters teams (the oldest team won a national title and several appearances). He got my D more interested in the game and taught soccer IQ at a very young age. Also got her hooked on futsal. D would love to go back but the academy he is at now doesn't believe in having players play up as she did when she used to be on his team.
