Yes..it gotten way out of control and I doubt it will stop as each year a new patch of parents/players takes that spot on the ladder and the clubs keep doing the exact same thing....

What’s puzzling is seeing even parents that played the game and know talent and what it takes fall for the bs sales pitch. If you ain’t made it by U16 it’s pretty much all over but the shouting. But because the academies want the $ flow to keep coming in they’ll still tell you that there is plenty of time. Bottom line is enjoy playing the game and the chips will fall where they may.

Yes and parents really need to understand that sometimes no amount for $$ or extra training or touches on the ball etc...will make that much of a real difference .
Either you were born with certain natural abilities or not...those that have it can work harder to get an edge on others like themselves that don't work as hard...but everyone else for the most part will max below them
