Teams hiding at Jeff Cup

Seems like the poster didn't want to lie to his kid's school. Some people prefer to do the right thing. Strange. Also funny how a school or your friends and family might not appreciate you bringing a case of Covid back as a memento.

Teachers, healthcare workers, and law enforcement have to quarantine. Not worth risking their jobs. Such low life's on this board.

Both PDA and MFA decided it was to much to ask of parents and coaches to travel to Virginia with quarantine restrictions in place. Same reason Penn Fusion did not accepts teams from certain states. It sucks, but with the dead period in effect no D1 coaches can attend, and the thought is that hopefully PDA in late May will have a massive attendance from coaches.

This is the youth side of the tournament not the showcase so what is the excuse? MFA Shore has several teams going. I guess they don't count at all.

I'm not sure that PDA was ever realistically going as they are busy underground training everywhere they can and saying they can't be ready....let's be honest the true reason they pulled out is because there 09 team would have to play top bracket which is 11V11 and they would get rolled...the other option would be 9v9 in the 2nd flight bracket.

Not sure about PDA North as we've seldom seen teams in the lower ages play here but PDA South was planning on attending and yes, it was announced the day before that all PDA teams were being pulled out due to travel restrictions and not wanting kids or parents to have to quarantine.

Regardless if you agree about traveling out of state right now for a tournament, Jeff Cup just released boys and girls weekend brackets. There are not only a bunch of NJ teams going, but there are a bunch of teams going to basically say they did it. For example, the PSA 09 girls are in the 9th bracket. There are a bunch of other teams doing the same (come on NJ Premier). Why even bother going down to play teams the same or worse in quality than what you can play in NJ. Why go gotsoccer point and trophy hunting right now. I'm just disgusted. If you're going to Jeff Cup, at least get into a competitive flight and make it mean something.

To go back to this original posting, where exactly are these brackets posted? Don't see them on the Jeff Cup website, just schedules that are empty so far.

Not the poster but tournaments almost never have schedules out this far in advance, just a list of teams attending. With Covid and the likelihood of last minute changes there's even less need to post anything now - it will probably all change. More teams may drop out if their states still have travel restrictions. I think signed up hoping for the best

I would rather not go....hoping club cancels as we get closer. The NJP flighting looks pretty close to where those teams should be. They aren't exactly killing it with the 07-09 teams. Mid table in flight one USYS shouldn't command higher flights at Jeff Cup especially when multiple flight 1 brackets in NJ. STA isn't exactly flighting themselves at the top either. I would rather be playing in appropriate flights then Boca 09 which is really a stretch in top bracket of 09. I never understood Jeff Cup for above average teams especially in NJ where we can get great competition within an hour drive.

At HS age, it’s all about showcasing for colleges. For younger age, it makes less sense except for having the tournament directors becoming familiar with your club/team so your acceptance at HS age becomes more likely.

Even for showcasing the event isn't as prestigious as it used to be. Many top teams don't go, and while they get some ECNL teams they tend to be weaker ones. This year is obviously different and there's a lot of kids desperate to get some exposure, but that still doesn't mean all their families want to go

Exactly! Though in years past you would have more teams from other regions/leagues so you would get a chance to play teams you would never see. This year with people not wanting to travel and D1 restrictions it looks more like any other tournament with some PAE/NJ clubs sprinkled in. No teams like Tophat, Solar, Sting, Cincinnati or any of the other higher ranking clubs are coming.
