Our club made the excuse that due to possible mandatory quarantining none of our teams would go this year. This was the day before the brackets were posted. Wonder if they saw how far down the teams would be flighted and just said no?
Or they simply had enough families saying they didn't want to go. There's that also.

07 BRYCE and NCFC ECNL teams are in flight 5 with PFs ECRL and CSA Monmouth GA teams

07 Pipeline and VDA ECNL are in Flight 4 with Arlington GA, NJ Surf South and FC Europa

08 BRYCE ECNL is in Flight 10 with nobodies while Loudoun is in Flight 6 with Riverhounds GA, Metro United GA and NJ Premier

Fun part is that the first 2 or 3 flights for the 092-07s are mostly ECNL and GA teams (and Solar (TX) ECRL team). Should make for some interesting talk on what club/league is doing better and just how bad one beats the other.
Not sure what the 05 and 06 groupings will look like this year but the last couple years there were a few USYS EDP teams in them, while some ECNL/GA teams were placed in 5th, 6th or even below brackets. So Jeff cup is definitely a fair tournament in terms of placement. Pretty unusual but refreshing to see in today’s very biased and segmented youth football landscape in America.

D's team played in a league that wasn't recognized by GotSoccer and didn't do many ranked tournaments. As a result, her team consistently got flighted in lower brackets at showcases like Jeff Cup despite the coach and DOC pleading cases to get moved up. As a result, they went 13-1-1 at their last 6 showcases with a GD of +37. Sucked to travel so much for games that generally weren't competitive, but fun to get all those wins in front of college coaches.

I think someone mentioned it above. Are they the un-named club that pulled out the day before brackets went live?

Maybe they discovered they don't need these none-ECNL showcases to get their players recruited?

Both PDA and MFA decided it was to much to ask of parents and coaches to travel to Virginia with quarantine restrictions in place. Same reason Penn Fusion did not accepts teams from certain states. It sucks, but with the dead period in effect no D1 coaches can attend, and the thought is that hopefully PDA in late May will have a massive attendance from coaches.

with checks cashed, whats the incentive for coaches to go to ecnl showcases (florida, arizona, south carolina?) or to jeff's cup.

what are the parents going to do? switch clubs? where would they go? same folks that came here and cheered on the demise of the da are now scratching their heads on what are the available alternatives.

all the games are recorded, so no need for d1 coaches to attend, when they can watch the tape. to whine "it sucks" is the best we can really do under these circumstances.

What quarantine restrictions???
Not one state had as mandatory quarantine restriction.
Saying travel quarantine restrictions easy for clubs and people to hide behind.

"As of January 14, 2021: Consistent with CDC guidance, Virginia currently does not have any quarantine requirements for people arriving in the Commonwealth from other U.S. or international locations."

NJ, PA, MD, NY, MA, WV, NC, SC all have suggestions or recommendations for people arriving from other states or countries.

I get it. Generally PDA and MFA at the HS ages send a hodge podge of players, not full teams. It's a good to have tourney, but not a must have. Their teams will play Penn Fusion, and PDA and the league and that is plenty. The younger teams, where the parents still enjoy travelling to places like Richmond, my heart goes out to you. There will be a day when you hear you don't have to go to Richmond that you are thankful.

Some people have to answer out of state questions for their children to attend school, if they have been out of state it could result in a mandatory quarantine and maybe some parents aren’t comfortable with that. I wouldn’t want to lie.

Again - nothing - nothing states that you have mandatory quarantine - its all recommendations
-my school "if you have been away, please quarantine"
-every family can opt into remote learning if they choose to quarantine
-there is not 1 school district that is mandatory in-person only
-no one has to lie to avoid mandatory quarantine because it doesn't exist

I'm not sure that PDA was ever realistically going as they are busy underground training everywhere they can and saying they can't be ready....let's be honest the true reason they pulled out is because there 09 team would have to play top bracket which is 11V11 and they would get rolled...the other option would be 9v9 in the 2nd flight bracket.

If you want them to attend in person and have to answer that you’ve been out of state, it could pose a problem. How do you know how each and every family and coach feels about staying in a hotel? It’s responsible to not travel if there are some that are uncomfortable. Doesn’t matter which club etc., just respecting the players and their families is more important.

Seems like the poster didn't want to lie to his kid's school. Some people prefer to do the right thing. Strange. Also funny how a school or your friends and family might not appreciate you bringing a case of Covid back as a memento.
