If your kid is 10 then they aren't even in GAL or ECNL. And yes I agree, get her trained up now. You've got time to decide on the league she lands in. and if its PDA when shes 14 I say good choice

So in you are willing to say, sight unseen, that in 4 years time PDA will be the best choice? People are brainwashed. You realize why whatever League the big clubs align with will always have that advantage.

Creating a Commission of the most powerful Clubs and allowing them to do what the ECNL can would be illegal/anti trust in some other walks of life.

Another reason why USSF are naive in competing in the areas they do.

Issue was/is the coaches who were selling how good the GA was going to be in terms of league competition. Anyone who looked at the list of area teams should have known it wasn't that strong.

The quality of teams was crap when it was DA. Why anyone thought GAL would be any good is beyond me

I still dont get why the absolute strength matters. It like saying no player in the Championship can play in the Premier League. Its not like we have promotion and relegation between the ECNL and GA. Both environments can produce players of similar quality. The differentiation you see is a reflection of one League offering "better", more established showcasing opportunities.

Just focus on what is best for the development of your kid. Any soccer decision you make will have a bigger and wider impact on her overall development as a person than people think. Some kids would be a lot better off with the responsibility of being a leader on a team and will learn many non soccer lessons from it. Others will benefit from a different experience.

My kid was at 2 EDP tournaments at Tuckahoe with some ECNL teams and township teams were beating them.

Best part about the internet - The ONLY time I could find any ECNL team playing and not winning at any EDP tournament this season was from the Fall Classic and both in the 07 age group. PDA White tied Lower Merion and PDA South tied PSA National.

So he made her a top player, but now you think exposure is more important for College. In my experience, being a top player creates its own exposure.

Yep. Thats how a monopoly/marketing works. the badge does not make a kid good, but you cant get "exposure" without signing up with the ECNL or GAL. The relative quality of our top players can be seen in the majority of College soccer games. In general, you see poor fundamentals that players try and compensate for with effort, aggression and athleticism.

The overselling part is really what was over the top, now that folks have seen for themselves what a big drop off has occurred from the DA the **** will hit the fan. Why not be honest and upfront with the paying customers???

Honest about what? Do you believe the College your kid goes to depends on whether she is GA or ECNL? Do you believe the most important variable in her success is the league she plays in?

It makes no difference which team she played for, the college coach is interested in the player...

You don't need ecnl- you need to be a good player
