Great start to GAL as it seems the quality of the clubs and play has increased since the DA days. Only a matter of time before it surpasses ECNL as the top league for girls.

The 2 losses were tough clubs
Baltimore Armour lost the Pipeline players when Pipeline went ECNL
Ukies, CSA Bergan and LISC aren't exactly power houses
Sporting DE was part of DEFC and is now mostly the Kirkwood players
The only good pick up was South Shore
The rest were already in DA

The GA is only 4 months in, during Convid and states with quarantines. For anyone to make any determination right now as to how the GA is doing is a stupid moron. It's going to be at least 2 years before you could really make any determination as to how well they are doing. Also, let's not forget the partnership with USYS and MLS. There is zero indication as to how the GA is failing/succeeding right now. Any of you stupid ****s that think "the GA is a waste of time" I'd be more concerned about how poorly the ECNL did this past fall. They are well established and the level of talent in the ECNL this past season was embarrassing. Township teams beating ECNL teams. That's where your focus should be, not on something that's only had half a season during state mandatory quarantines where games couldn't be played.

One "township" team beats an ECNL team and all of a sudden the ECNL is not competitive? That's just as silly a statement as saying GA is a total failure after half a season.

DE only has one quality team (05) and they lost a lot of players over the last 1-2 years so they are not what they used to be. Don’t forget STA lost a ton of players to ECNL as well....anyhow the GA league is a work in progress as they had to survive with plugging in clubs to complement what they lost. Only time will tell if it becomes at least what the DA used to be.

Again, really surprising all these stories over the last year about the mass exodus of DA/GA players who just waltzed right into ECNL clubs.

- fitness
- first touch/short passing
- shooting
All of these can be done independently
You also need a partner/coach for other aspects of the game - so go and train with a program that wills in the gaps.

1. GA as a whole as in nation wide. Yes, it is too early to say if GA will be a success and rival or become the 2nd best league vs ECNL.
2. GA as it pertains to the north east and mid-atlantic divisions. This is easier to kick around as we've all had kids that at one point or another either played for or against these clubs. We've seen where they are placed in tournaments and when they were EDP and know the teams they lose to or beat.
While 1 is a wait and see 2 is what it is. If these clubs can actually turn around the perception of the money grubbing club and actually produce players is up in the air. I know some clubs are doing a lot more then they had years prior while others are doing the same training they always have. So, we will see....

This debate is always entertaining. For the last 2 years it was DA vs ECNL and now its GA vs ECNL. At least when it was DA there were strong arguments for what made DA good (sort of) But GA? You people are all just fooling yourselves.
Here is the deal. First, ECNL this past fall was only for kids U14 and under. Seriously? Thats who you are focusing on for all of ECNL?
Second, Yes GA just started and yes I believe it should be given a chance but look at the level of talent on these teams. What CSA team is any good? What STA team is any good? The best kids have left or are leaving and thats a fact. Even when GA finally gets going it will always where the second level kids go. Top kids go to ECNL. Period.
Third, Clubs like STA are screwed now that DA folded. It was their only chance to be considered Elite. They will never get ECNL and they are putting everything they have into GA. Smiling Tim will tell you anything to get you to that CLUB and anything to keep you. Keep in mind that last year there was no tryouts for these ECNL clubs yet the best kids left. Just wait till this spring when more kids have a chance to leave. Just think about the level of talent that will be left on these GA teams.

A system like that would achieve a better balance between individual and team development. A Club Teams only function at a showcase is to put as many players in position to show what they can do. If you lose the game doing that, so what? The aim is to get better and recruited to a school that suits you academically and athletically. No one outside the players circle cares who won the ECNL championship in 2015 and I doubt the players had a differnt recruiting outcome because of it.
