Looking at the articles from Soccer-Wire about InStat players and it doesn't seem right.

For ECNL I don't see any PDA north teams while it lists 2 Penn Fusion (a u13 and a u14) and a SUSA u14. The #3 person is a u13?

For GA #2+3 are u14 and #4 is a u13?

Sure, I get that some ages in some leagues didn't didn't play fall but this is out of the entire country not just our area. Our team doesn't use it but just how accurate is this tool?

Your question implies you should probably not be looking at it. Tool for what? Publications have realized that anything that ranks players is clickbait.

give me an example of some data that does? Exactly. the marketing of the product has very little connection with soccer success. Girls soccer is about being good enough to get preferred access to the group of schools that suit your kid. Those may or may not be good at soccer. After the fact, parents try and justify the soccer part based of where they "could" have gone.All seems a bit uneccessary

From what little I have seen of the data given out it does show some interesting numbers. Lost balls, defensive challenges won/lost, touches, completed passes, time played...etc on a per person basis. Would think it would be real helpful to see a statistical breakdown by a 3rd party to see an honest evaluation on a per game basis. What was interesting to me was the numbers of the favorites vs the numbers of the bench players and that some of the coaches favs were not actually as consistent or even overall better then some of the bench players. It also pointed out ball hogs as their over all touches were as much as 3-4x higher then the average.

So, I guess it could be useful analytics as long as the coach actually abided by it and not his feeling on favorite players.

Correct, but as the previous poster pointed out, having more data available can help the coach/trainer see where a player or teams short falls are and what can be done to work on them. If the coach wants to take the beer goggles off and treat each player based on the data and not who has the loudest or most influential parents.

You have the number right in front of you to show why a player is getting less time and another is getting more. Most would understand that and find solutions to help improve the player.

If you are a good/fair coach players will want to play for you. If you're a douche who only panders to a small handful of players then not so much.

Concept itself is fine, but the data is only as good as the inputs. Its is very useful at higher levels where the competition is more consistent and you are looking for certain profiles to build teams/get an edge.

The way it is being "sold" by some as an absolute measure of a players ability is wrong and misleading. That should not be a surprise to anyone. Truth and honesty in youth sports is hard to find, especially in girls soccer, when there is no incentive to do so.
