Speaking as a D3 college coach, this is not true. I've not heard of any D3 coaches being unable to recruit at showcase events. There may be a few, but it's certainly not 'most'.

Yes, I have heard that. But it is not because of the NCAA dead period, but rather a safety protocol for the specific colleges.

Correct glad you’re able to correct so much misinformation on here, lots of it coming from people that haven’t a clue. They always think D1 and nothing else until reality bites them.

As long as you are AT the showcase and you write the school . They will find you. Period.

Not for top programs - they literally get hundreds of emails per event. They don't have enough time and have to make choices based on footage, calls from club coaches, or yes even flights if need be.

D's coach was not proactive in this manner, but when D asked for specific help (eg. a recommendation), coach was happy to do it. Up to the player to lead the charge.

It's all up to the player, from finding schools and soccer programs that are good fits, writing coaches, talking with their current coaches, following up with emails and phone calls etc - oh and performing on the field once a coach comes to watch them or at ID events. If you kid can't manage all of that they should stop now.

From what I have seen, the majority of kids can't handle this and its parents who are ghost-writing to coaches. Heard one funny story from a D3 coach who had traded a bunch of emails with a player, and then when the player showed up for an ID camp it became painfully obvious that the player had no idea what was talked about in the email conversation.

Coaches are very good at sniffing out parent involvement. If they do, the kids is eliminate from consideration in most cases. If you have a meeting with a coach, shut up and let the kids lead the conversation. This goes to all levels, D1-D3.

If you want to see how low the quality for ECRL is viewed just have a look at both Penn Fusion and Jeff Cup brackets for U15-18. Tons of EDP USYS teams placed ahead of ECRL and in quite a few cases GA too....

How does that show low quality? Penn Fusion and Jeff Cup are among the top showcases on the east coast. ECRL teams being there at all indicates a reasonably good quality.

Once you get past the top 2/3 flights, most of the seeding is done with GotSoccer points, which EDP teams amass by getting out of bed in the morning.

Agreed don’t know why anyone would waste their time or money on the rl league- complete waste.. always looked down on - better off at EDP or gal. RL Only exist to pad the coffer of ECNL and the club ... stay away stay far away... no upside.
