Great, how much extra are clubs going to charge and how much butt are you going to have to kiss to be selected for that?

You people need to read “between the lines”. This is just another form of ID2 ECNL made available for ECNL players. It’s for the top 1% of ECNL players picked from this league. It has nothing to do with GA or even ECNL. Players who are the top 1% of each age group will be selected leaving out the other 99% of ECNL players. Plenty of parents will now have another reason to be pissed off at a club because their daughter wasn’t selected. This new addition is really the result of clubs/teams in ECNL that have under performed in recent years. In my opinion there are clubs that should be relegated to ECRL when they play 3 years consecutively at the bottom of their regional league.

Oh my goodness, soccer parents are crazy.
The super cup will be fun for the kids who make it, and nice exposure, but the top players involved would be still the top players on their teams without it...it's just another reason for parents to obsess. My kid has been a bubble player throughout high school, struggled a lot with coaches...and yet she has committed to her dream school because she did the work of reaching out to coaches and getting seen. She was never the top player on her very strong team but she is top recruit at her school of choice because she got on their radar and can bring what is needed to their college roster. Very few kids are going to get discovered at a tournament. Kids should Get in touch with coaches, go to the camps at their top schools, visit campus and ask to intro themselves to the coach as soon as allowed under NCAA rules (and respecting pandemic rules.) Unless you are on the YNT, you need to let coaches know you're interested and not sit around and wait or be mad if you don't make the super cup team

Is this for committed players or only uncommitted players? The top players are committed early so unless this is for uncommitted players....why would the coaches come to watch players that are already committed to play elsewhere?

This is purely a development program. A pathway for the best players to the national teams. I wonder how it will impact the HS season.
