His problem is that he gets way to close to some parents on his teams. It’s a strange popularity contest or middle school cool kids vibe. When he does this he makes promises and speaks unfiltered to this group. Everyone picks up on it and everyone knows that certain kids are untouchable. This is not normal behavior from a professional coach. This will backfire epically because the same people he surrounded himself with are going to ultimately be the ones that bring him down. I don’t feel bad because he made the bed..

Playing with better kids that he's already recruited... ✅
Traveling to other states to (as per RT) prestigious tournaments... ✅
Facing better competition, especially at said tournaments... Check ✅
Being told the goal is to win a national championship at u11... ✅
What you're really getting is:
A highly competitive atmosphere where your kid's position on not just the starting 11, but the actual roster, is up for grabs every day.
A place where zero development happens at practice. Each practice is just a showcase for your kid to prove they are better than the other kids on the roster and the outside kids who show up to each practice.
A multi-thousand dollar bill for the hotels and flights to tournaments you are expected to participate in.
A highly suspicious parent group where there are multiple people willing to sell you out to RT if you say or do the wrong thing. If your kid plays the same position as their kid you'd better watch your back. Look at what happened to the PA girls recently from his 09 team for all the proof you need.
Please look into the guy (see the quoted post) before saying yes.

Any talk of a badge or fields is just pie in the sky stuff to try and push someone over the edge to sign on. I can totally understand a parent being taken in by RT if they're coming from a town team or a different lower level club team because what he's selling is much grander than anything even being offered (because most coaches at the younger ages are focused on development instead).
