too much travel, too much expense. if a team can't find enough quality competition in their own league then they're in the wrong league.

Hence why leagues now have a larger footprint. I think your two points contradict themselves.

On one hand, you say too much travel/expense. On the other, you suggest the current environment doesn't offer enough quality so they find another league.

The norm is 5 Tournaments for the top teams at a club. What are the diminishing benefits for the players?

No it isn't. GDA/GAL is 3 (fall, spring, nationals for most ages during non covid times). ECNL is similar, certain teams may have one more or less depending on the age group (recruiting age teams usually do at least one more). If some teams select to do additional on top of that it's a team or club based decision, not league based.

That is correct it’s not league based. As I Previously said most premier (top teams) clubs decide to play 5 tournaments which include sanctioned ECNL/GA showcase championship events. High school aged team do the extra for college recruitment. The vast majority travel to at least 5 tournaments (f not more).

No one should be, or probably is doing doing 7 tournaments. GAL and ECNL definitely do not. Too much unnecessary travel with diminishing benefits.

Exactly. You can easily get to 7 if you throw in something like WAGS, Bethesda, Disney, etc. These things add up if keep piling them on or if you need to take a flight.

LoL....tons of ECNL clubs play Jeff Cup and Bethesda. Ever heard of World Class, PDA, Richmond, VDA, FC Bucks, Matchfit and I could go in and on.....

When you say “almost” that is your opinion or experience. Plenty of ECNL teams include both CASL and JEFF CUP. Almost all include both of these as well as the sanctioned ECNL Events if you include the PDA Showcase. Both my girls averaged 5-7 showcase events per season not including SURF cup that they went as a group with other ECNL players from different clubs who played together for that tournament.
