EDP clubs are also at a disadvantage because the ECNL/GAL clubs also hoard the talent on lower teams as well as on the bench of the top team. It would be interesting if those kids were dispersed back into the playing pool for other clubs and teams to grab and develop. Many of the top clubs have great players playing at lower levels. Think about the CM on second team being added to other teams or the backup playing elsewhere. Or the GK 2-4 playing elsewhere. It's not just about the team the ECNL/GAL clubs field, its about the talent they have sitting playing at lower levels that many be 96% of the player above them on the ladder.

Real NJ 06 would destroy most ECNL teams, just check how good this team is....and they recently beat FC Delco, FC Bucks and FSA ECNL. There are some other 05 teams that can hang too....check out Philly Coppa 05 they only lost 2-1 to World Class ECNL who is regarded as one of the best in the nation. They also beat Pipeline, and McLean ECNL. Howell 05 which is a town team only lost to the same World Class ECNL team 1-0 and beat the likes of VDA ECNL and FSA ECNL. PSA Wildcats 06 beat 2 ECNL teams in the same tournament as well. Baltimore Celtic 05 beat Bethesda ECNL, Richmond ECNL and PDA ECNL White. I could go on and on...all USYS teams beating or competing with ECNL teams. All 06 or 05 which is HS age. And to be honest competing with “the best” is what really matters, the winning is irrelevant. Not easy for these USYS teams to get results against the best league which in all fairness is ECNL.

Absolutely - Real 06 is a phenomenal team that not only competes but beats ECNL teams. My kids 2006 FC bucks team was destroyed by Real in a friendly right before the shut down. And yes it was only a friendly but her entire team was there and they got embarrassed with a 3-0 defeat, don’t think her bucks team even had three shots the entire game. Doubtful they will agree to scrimmage Real again. Can’t risk being exposed another time.

Bottom line every league has good and bad teams/clubs and the league doesn’t dictate whether your team is actually good.

So a small handful of teams over 2 different age groups, none in the same club, run close to or win narrow games against some ECNL teams from up and down the coast and people say ECNL is bad? People do realize that the C stands for CLUB right? You will always have outliers that are better. Still though that 06 team....Would like to see the school commits vs those same ECNL teams. The 1st question a college coach asks is do you play ECNL. Unless that changes GA or USYS will always be a step behind.

That was an embarrassing game! Barcelona totally outplayed PDA Blue. It really showed the difference in styles. PDA, which had just won the ECNL nationals, were just big and fast. Long balls to chase after. Barcelona were a joy to watch; skillful passing and with great movement of the ball. The Barcelona GK/defenders did not clear the ball even once; everything was carefully worked out of the back.

It’s not my responsibility to tell your daughter anything nor would I. I direct my response towards you. Parents who describe a match by style, dominate and embarrassment just shows how much your involved with your kids sport. Living vicariously through their sport put blinders on the parent who then live in an alternative reality world especially for those parents who have high Expectations and aspirations for having their daughter play in college. These parents think there daughters are equal or better to this particular ECNL team. I have seen parents like you turn bitter because what professionals see on the pitch and what parents perceive as great football are two different things. The players understand that better than parents.
