Supposedly FA tried speeding their MLS NEXT application, hence why they got rejected. They are still a young academy, not enough to attract talent across all group ages.

I think I saw that Ironbound was let into MLS next but only two of their teams were let in. Is this true? If that is the case doesn't FA have at least two good teams?

2011 Boys and 2010 Boys are FA’s top teams and both are better than Ironbound but I heard a few left from FA.

There are more requirements to join the league than having two current good teams

Those kids would be better off sticking to USYS unless they think they are best of their team and can move up to the ecnl team (which even then is debatable whether ecnl boys is worth it). So the MLS Next ban to play ECNL doesn't apply to ECNL-RL I take it since PDA's C team is playing there

Sounds like someone is jealous of someone else. Ironbound does not have anything on FA. But Ironbound is in But FA is not...curious...what does Ironbound have over FA?

It’s a shame they couldn’t get in, they had good talent. I am hearing their players are trying out. Some have already left.

things Ironbound have: Facilities that meet the MLS next requirements. Multiple Coaches that meet the MLS Next requirements. A track record of developing players at the older ages. A location that is not a stones throw from the Red Bull team.

It sounds like karma has caught up to them. FA has exemplified what it is to be soar winners. It’s no surprise they are being excluded from MLS. On top of all the reasons already mentioned, FA are “sellers” they are going to lose players one by one and not be able to replace them with comparable talent.

on the other hand Ironbound, especially with MLS next, are buyers, attracting players and moving forward. They have been joined at the hip with the Red Bulls from day one and feed the RB players constantly. They are also the main club team in a large populated community, they don’t charge much and will always be relevant just based on the number of players they get each year.

FA is a very fragile club relying on a few “well-to-do” parents to shoulder the financial burden. At any time or any age it could all fall apart.

Why would the MLS next take in that risk?

I will say that if FA were to get a badge from MLS or ECNL they would be a verified dominant force in NJ. With only 2 ECNL teams in NJ maybe they have a better shot at ECNL.

Entire youth structure has gotten ridiculous, really should have been MLS academies in an MLSnext league which is the top level elite. And then the rest of the clubs show their worth with flighting and pro/rel within each age group. Instead it's impossible to follow which clubs play where and every league is diluted and now parents are paying more money, travelling further, when we are in one of the most soccer dense states in the country.

that can’t work logistically. Our country and the league is too big. Entire clubs go to play other entire clubs on the same day. It’s affordable that way with the shared cost of having everyone in 1 spot and Sharing coaches and trainers. Would promotion / relegation be more fair and do it on a team by team basis? Yes, but the league would fold in 1 year after bleeding money. On any given weekend you would want the Red Bull teams to go to a different location for u13, u14, u15, u17 and u19 instead of 1 spot for all 5 teams that share coaches. It’s unrealistic.

This does not explain anything about why FA was not let in. FA has facilities. FA has coaches which meet the requirements I'm sure. FA develops players because red bulls look at their players and I think even took some. So I still don't get it...is it just because they are too close to Red Bull and red bull would worry about losing players to them? Just curious...because it seems strange.

How about the fact that Ironbound has a 30 year history of developing players, being a stable run club in a hotbed of talent. Access and main tenants at half a dozen of turf facilities in the city. Successful track record of partnering with Red Bulls at multiple age levels (Rec, Travel, Academy, USL Two).

FA is brand new in the scheme of things, who can guarantee their long term stability?

What facility does FA have that meets MLS Next requirements?
