My child is 12 and had a big growth spurt. He was pretty fast but his speed has decreased and his running looks more or less like a giraffe running. Has anyone experienced something similar to this? . I’m following up with his doctor but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the matter. Thank you in advance.

0% of soccer coaches understand running mechanics and you are asking travel soccer dads for advice? Lol

It is quite normal for kids who have had a growth spurt. Nothing to worry about as far as his speed and movement, it will resolve and he will get back his speed and fluid mechanics. However with a growth spurt comes other issues such as evulsion fractures of the hip, and Osgood Schlatter which are the most common of the soccer injuries associated with growth spurts. . Best to get him into a strength training program to head off any muscular imbalance which will also decrease the chances of injury. Also time to research a good PT if you haven’t had one yet. Good luck to yourself and kid.

All the High level town teams are gone. All absorbed by MLS Next. Some went to EDP teams… from Bloomfield to FA??. PDA, CSA Bergen/Monmouth got all the remaining top local talent. After RB’s picked up the cream from the top.

Bloomfield’s 2011’s went to FA or Bloomfield’s 2010’s went to FA?

I guess I should have known this before commiting to a new team for u13 but what are all the different leagues in NJ and which clubs play where? And other than MLS teams, does it matter?

Top teams and players play MLS Next.

Next up is the ECNL teams.

USYS Mid Atlantic has 2 flights and that would be the 3rd level of teams.

4th level of teams play in the NAL and ECRL Leagues.

Then up 5th there is EDP Prem 3 and lower EDP flights which is just above the the local leagues which I would put 6th in a pyramid. NCSA, MOSA, SJSL Mid NJ.
