Where is the relegation of clubs that perform poorly in MLS Next?

Ironbound 2010s playing against a bunch of B teams in Neal, not impressive either.

MLS is a private league just like the MLS. Why should there be relegation and why should everyone be included? Players are going to gravitate to these clubs and the best players will make it (theoretically).

I agree, don’t knock Ironbound. Join them and make their teams better since your club does not meet the qualifications to play in the MLS Next League.

What club is more deserving and wanted to make that move? Its not just based on wins losses, rather its program strength, location, organization...Ironbound sits in a great spot with access to talent, this move makes sense to me.

I disagree with your post. Red Bulls, PDA and TSF have no say in this matter. The MLS Next league makes the decisions on what they see is best. There is no voting or approving of these things by member clubs. That is just sour grapes talking. If your club was not accepted it wasn't because other clubs said NO to it.

The performance of a club is just 1 of the many factors involved in being accepted into the league and staying in the league. The infrastructure is just as, if not more important. Not sure how it is so difficult to understand. The location is 1 thing. The facility and being able to host games and teams across multiple age groups. The recording ability at the venue for MLS next requirements. The lighting of the fields at the facility if needed. Your facility lot being big enough to hold the bussing and parents from multiple age groups that come. Being a great team with no actual facility and limited coaching/staff is not going to get you in. It is not the EDP league with one off teams going from game to game with their one coach. U13, u14, u15, u16, u17 and u19 teams and games all day long. Coaches are there for an entire day. Overlapping field space is required as games and warm-up for next game are simultaneously. How many clubs that want to be involved in MLS Next can fill those needs. Not very many. Ironbound fit that need. They have the Rutgers - Newark facility to use.

I see only 4 other clubs that are good enough but possibly have other issues in NJ:

                    North Jersey:
Football Academy doesn't have the required facilities or space. Team is very good, but they don't have more than 1 field anywhere that I am aware of and also their location is down the street from Red Bull. Great younger teams.
Morris Elite seems to have everything they would need. Not sure if they are interested or not with there USL pathway already.
                    South Jersey:
SJEB has the facilities and teams but it appears the Sporting AC club that was previously Sporting Delaware got the nod over them. They would have been a good add but the Sporting AC proposal must have looked better.
Futboltech doesn't have the coaching or facilities. Similar to FA great younger teams only, not enough staff or fields. They are a doing a great job training kids up.

I agree with this assessment but what fields does Ironbound have? We played them in the County Park, maybe they have better fields for the older groups?

Isn't ironbound part of USL too? Is that why this stops at just u13/u14?

Probably an FA parent. Club/Parents had recently been overly confident they would get MLS Next. Good u13 and under, average above that. Inadequate facilities and only a 3 year track record. FA will need to secure a facility with multiple turf fields at a minimum and most likely maintain success into the older age groups for a couple additional years.

We play for another MLS Next group, won’t say to stop people trying to bash that club. But I have to say I disagree with this comment. I have looked everywhere and cant see where TFA has talked about MLS Next, do we know if they applied? It doesn’t seem like the club has put anything out and I searched for quite a bit.
They have great facilities, my son and daughter has played against TFA over the past couple years, we have played at both set of Pingry schools, one has like 5 fields on it all turf. I think someone is trying to stir up the chat here with this comment. The club we play for and 2 other club have stronger facilities that I have been to (that are not town reliant), TFA are up there with great facilities. I haven’t been to their bubble but seemingly that’s very impressive too. We all want to bash clubs versus praise them, I think they are doing a good job over there both boys and girls, my kids have always had good games against them. I would be happy to see them in the pool of MLS Next as its another good club in the area where I don't need to pay for hotels or add unneeded miles to my car to see my kid play.

They didn't post anywhere that I know of and why would the Club post about applying? We know many players there and have played FA. The coaches, owners, parents, players all discuss openly that they are trying to get MLS Next. These past few months they have felt strongly they would get it. I, and I don't believe the OP, are bashing them. U14 and older boys teams are not that strong. Fact. U13 and under they have some of the best teams in the state. Fact. Maybe you didn't like the word inadequate? I think its just means they don't have what is required, but not sure that is even the issue. The dome is beautiful. I am not aware of a Pingry school they play outdoor on that has more than 1 field. Basking ridge is used for Futsal. They use Pingry Short Hills for 9v9 and its nice, but small and only a single field. The older boys play 11v11 at Kantor Park. Nice big turf field, but again only a single turf field. I don't know what the exact MLS Next requirements are other than I believe two full 11v11 fields simultaneously, but they clearly don't even need to be next to each other. TSF uses Manchester Regional High School and Depaul High School which are 15-20 min apart on game days.

I would assume after 2 attempts, they will have learned something from the process and will keep trying. If they can maintain the teams as they get older, I would believe it would an easy approval in another couple years. It would be interesting to know how long all of the current MLS Next Clubs were in business before approval.
