It would be more impressive if they developed players that started with the team at a younger age than recruit players developed by other clubs

      That would be impressive!

Show me one MLSnext team in NJ at the U13 age that has 1 kid starting that they developed since age 5,6,7 or 8 years old that’s still playing with them????

that just doesn’t happen, anywhere. There is too much movement and kids peaking early and others with a higher ceiling blossoming later on and taking their spots at the U11-U13 age.

What is the sales pitch to the U8-U10 parent to pay big money and sign up for one of these clubs when their kid will be replaced in a few years by a kid starting out in town ball?

Town ball kids at U10 or older will never replace any club kid playing on the A team from U8-U10. The skills, IQ, and just dedication of 3 practices per week for 3 years straight is enough to separate and town kid.

Highly doubt it - if that town kid is bigger faster and more aggressive it will even the playing field.

I’m sure they would like to keep all the kids they develop. Some of The boys they developed are now at MLS academies and part of the reason they need to recruit. Multiple ages currently at NY Red Bull and Philadelphia Union have kids from CSA Monmouth. Also, the now director of zone 1 at Philadelphia Union is from CSA Monmouth. You may not like the club, but they actually are developing kids that end up on the MLS teams. When you add in CSA Bergen and CSA Staten Island the amount of MLS academy kids between NY Red Bull, Philadelphia Union and NYC FC is quite impressive.

If CSA Monmouth had top 2011 kids they would have made the RB Academy this fall. It's just a pool of average players which is totally fine. Did the RB or Union recruit any Liverpool kids ? If not, it is meaningless to bring up that travel team in this conversation.

Not an FA Parent, but all of those NEAL teams will not be NEAL teams next year, instead they will merge with most of the ACELA teams. So, next year has nothing to do with the competition levels this year....sorry

Not Sure what the Liverpool Reference you made is about, no one brought up that team which no longer exists. Some one said it would be more impressive for CSA to develop instead of recruit. I just pointed out the CSA teams are developing kids. Those kids are being recruited to Red Bull, NYCFC and Philadelphia Union. Current U12 Red Bull roster has CSA developed players. Current U13 Red Bull roster has CSA developed players. Current U14 CSA Roster has CSA developed players. Current U15 Red Bull roster has several CSA developed players. I am not familiar with the u17 roster Red bull roster.

CSA Monmouth 2011 is an average to low level team. You can't compare Bergen CSA to Monmouth CSA. It's like a comparing a Ferrari to a civic with a muffler...

I don't think anyone is comparing the 2 teams at all. Simply pointing out that they (All the CSA Branches) are producing players pretty frequently that move on to the local MLS academies. I would agree the Team at Bergen is much better at 2011 and probably most ages. But both CSA Staten Island and Monmouth are currently well represented at the MLS academy level - specifically u12-u15.

You are spot on. I can definitely name a number of kids in the 2010 year group who are at Red Bulls and NYC FC who came out of the Staten, Bergen and Newark programs. it’s quite a few not just 1 or 2.
