Yes, and let's see how the "big clubs" (I assume this means the MLS academies) do in this tournament. They need competition and there simply are not enough MLS clubs in a country this size.

Its not the actual u13 NYCFC MLS team. Its a mix of 2012 & 2011. MLS doesn’t play these tournaments. They play showcases or friendlies on these weekends

Yes, it is the actual u13s team. They don't have a 2012 team and the 2 teams they have entered at u12 are the mix of 2011 and 2012 kids they do have.

A few NY / NJ MLS clubs who compete in NEAL opted to participate in the North East Academy Columbus Invitational which is being held in Albany this weekend. Bergen, NYSC, Ironbound, Beachside, FC Westchester , Elite Alleycats, TSF and a few from Boston which includes Boston Bolts. It should be a fun tournament for the boys.

It is not even the article says nycfc 2012s which signals it will be a 2011/12 mix. Why would Nycfc enter a tournament with town teams ?

They don't need to enter town tournaments, they have their own private tournaments where they look to scout kids. MLS clubs don't look for competition they look for scouting opportunities.

They updated the team name to United FC so idiots like you aren’t confused. That’s the name they use when it’s just a mix of their kids and age groups and they are really just scouting

I suppose all events and games are "scouting opportunities", aren't they? If MLS clubs enter these "town tournaments", which they do at U12 and below, and don't win them, what does that say about them? That they are no better than the "town teams" they are looking to steal - sorry, scout - players from.

I feel so honored they updated it just for me. Or maybe they updated it because NYCFC pulled all their teams out. Lol. Both u12 teams which are mainly 2011 but some 2012s are gone and the u13 team which was the actual u13 team was pulled as well. Good try though Homer.

Yes, I guess it's safer for the "big clubs" to play "private" tournaments just in case they lose.

Did United FC drop out as well?

I guess better for NYCFC to withdraw than to lose both games like the Philly Union 2011s did today.

New York Red Bull Stars also lost both games. I head that the fields they are playing on are lined for 7v7 size and also using 7v7 size goals instead of the correct size. No excuses for anyone, just an observation.

Tuckahoe Farms is the worst place to play 9v9 soccer, the fields are always small. No high level academy should subject their players to that field size.

I agree Tuckahoe Farms lost the "yay we're playing there" feel years ago. Throw in the U11 Pittsgrove location too. If someone here knows the scheduling issues tell us. My esperince has been that having games 3-4 hours apart doesn't lead to a fun day and doesn't lead to better soccer.
