I just wonder sometimes if clubs try and do this. Is it really an recruiting line to say:
"We finished 10-0 in Premier X, you should come to us from you 2-8 Premier II team"
-or-
"We are a Premier II team, you should come and play for us from your 2-8 Premier III team" (hoping the boy doesnt realize they were 0-10 in Premier II)

Better than a big name club pumping 5 teams for the same age group in the same geographical area and lying to the parents about the level of the team and the type of training and development their kid will receive..

well if there 5th gets the same wins as someone else’s first team in the same division, does it really matter it is the 5th team?

I personally rank a potential team by three factors: 1 - Level of coaching, 2 - number of touches and lastly level of competition. Everyone is different but I like this approach.

If the 5th is at the rec level playing vs rec level playing 3k a year I think that's very sad lol but it's ok since they get to wear the fancy jersey lol

How about the quality of touches ? Coaches will sell the touch ammount theory but if the kids aere spazzing out and just blasting the ball because their training sucks or their competition is too much for them then those touches mean nothing.

Pretty sure 'level of coaching' would cover the quality of touches as well as the level of competition assuming the team is flighted properly.
