I think parents need to realize that some clubs do not provide true movement within teams. It is very difficult for kids to move up from the B to the A team specially if the A team is recruiting players non-stop mid season. If the A team coach doesn't believe the B team has enough talent it will be difficult to promote those kids. The A team might bring outside guest players for tournaments because they are trying out those players for the team. A team like FA will bring in guest players because they need to win tournaments to attract players since they have no path. Their business model is developing 5 to 10 yr olds so winning tournaments serves as a great marketing tool to keep the flow of young talent for the next generation.

At some point parents have to decide if being on the B team is keeping their kid happy and if the player is getting sufficient playing time to get better within that level. The development aspect is more about getting rostered for games rather than being promoted to the A since in most cases it won't happen.

sadly it is about the money. It is easier to bring someone in from another team for the A team than to promote someone from B and then get a new B player. They already have your money, so you are lower on the list

Most of the time the A and B teams are playing on the same weekend, so its possible the B team wasn't an option. Guest playing is generally a recruitment tool anyway. You'll see teams with 13 players attending, still ask for a guest player or two in hopes that player joins down the road.

I am in this exact position, but I won't name the club. It's super frustrating but only due to the fact that the Clubs tend to hide so much about the process. My son starts every game at B and gets more field time than the A so I don't complain as it's not an adult vanity project. I do fine myself asking if someone is watching different kids than I am b/c some roster decisions make no sense. But than I remember its all about the money for most clubs and it seems to make more sense.

As long as your happy with the play/coaching it's best to just focus on your own kid and not other kids. Make sure they are having fun and developing at this age, it will pay off way more long term and jamming your kid into an A team to brag at a cocktail party

You are probably right but I have seen them play a couple of times. When they are on, they are a handful for teams. You never know. I was sure Red Bull NY would beat them but they beat red Bull pretty good. I would have liked to have seen them play.

Can't jam a kid into the A team the older they get. If you get to most clubs at the B team it will be very tough to move up unless the kid develops a stellar game and gets moved up. If your kid is happy and getting playing time and he is learning why worry about A B C or teams.

STA Pre-ECNL IS TOP, STA Pre-ECRL is 2nd. STA USYS is 3rd team. Match Fit Mercer already has 2 teams. Currently Blue and Black. Blue is the top team and will be Match Fit Pre-ECNL. Black will be the2nd and ECRL team. The match fit shore boys program is a joke. They are nothing but EDP teams if they don’t fold. CSA Monmouth and Bergen will both have a North East Academy League 1 and 2 team. The top team will be in MLS next the following year and the 2nd team will remain in the top flight of the NEAL.. I don’t think CSA Monmouth location will have a 3rd team but Bergen most likely will..
I’m surprised some of these clubs have enough kids to roster multiple teams eg pda sta.

You kidding ? Most of the clubs are recruiting kids all year around. Some rosters grow as big as 20 in a matter of months and kids get pushed off to friendlies or other teams within the same club.

Agree. Always recruiting. Question is how big gap is there between the A and B team. Not sure for the teams listed match fit csa pda. Interested to hear peoples experiences.

CSA, STA and Match Fit all have a significant drop off to their 2nd teams. Not sure about PDA. I have never seen their 2nd team if the have one.

next year csa Bergen/monmth will have two teams (or more) in pre mls/NEAL. They should be equal but likely one team is stronger one. STA guess diff between their eventual ecnl/ ecrl not sure if that is significant gap - only watched their A team. Pda someone mentioned there is pre mls and pre ecnl. Not sure how much stronger is one compared to other there? Plus doesn’t pda have fluid roster and development - so kids move around if developing. Though they’re usually good team - not sure what happened this year. Matchfit agree drop between first and second.

Is RB south still unbeatable? And also in premier 1 red, 9th place vs 8th place PSA/AS junior elite (both without a single point) faced off does anyone have the score for that?

Did Liverpool play FA today? I thought the Bloomfield players already left for FA.
