Of course they are, there's no ECNL or MLS Next for them by next fall. They can pitch 10 tournaments per season but they will play the lowest level of competition in the area by the time they are U12. Although they have been doing for the last year hiding away from the big boys in the top 2011 flight to collect got soccer points. Pretty genius move if you ask me too bad it's not a pay for play club because that would have been a great business model...

Is ECNL on the boys side even something anyone cares about? PDAs B team, STA and Match Fit. Not exactly the cream of the crop as far as NJ boys clubs teams.

makes you wonder a non Pay for play club having 10 tournaments for the kids, and free coaching all for under $500. makes me think could they just be doing it for the kids?! for the love of the sport i wonder... they should be doing as all the other "academies" and charge thousands and rip off the ignorant parents like all other clubs

Unfortunately for Union you have to meet many requirements and I’m going to go out on a limb and say they won’t let a self/proclaimed, town team in.
dont know Union at all, but if Got Soccer says they are #1 then they are #1. all the haters are just jealous, hope i get to see them play this season.. if its up to points then they obviously play more than you guys so they deserve it

The person I know who was going to join Union said it was $500 per season plus extras for tournaments. Not under $500 for the year like you are implying. A lot of parents aren’t ignorant and are willing to pay extra to avoid the nepotism that happens frequently when it’s parent/family coaching.

got soccer rankings aren’t respected. Please stop talking about them. To explain… Their system is flawed. They reward the teams that play the most, not necessarily the best teams. You earn points for playing. No one will argue against Union playing a ton of league games and tournaments. Playing up an age in low level flights last year awarded them lots of points where teams playing on age in top flights didn’t earn any points. This is why they are ranked 1 in got soccer currently. Youth soccer rankings is what is more accurate. Currently they are #4 which I feel is a little bit high, but more realistic. They are more likely in the 4-10 range.

Not true spreading lies again. think about it at 365 per player 13 players thats $4,745. check the math no high school in my country..
                    Free coaching = 0
                    Team registration = $700
                    Fields =0
                    Union Club insur =500

so plenty of left over money for tournaments but most importantly

                    Being #1 state = Priceless

email from someone I know who played during the winter this past year at Union….

“Our program runs all year round , winter season this year is outdoors , usually combo of both , our teams are trained by pro trainers , we have 4 college coaches on the staff , our main focus is player development , we know if we do that the wins take care of themselves , We have several state champions , we participate in the super y over the summer , cost for the winter is 150 , spring 325 , summer 200 and fall 325 , teams do fundraising to offset the costs but not mandatory , tournaments

Some teams play in two leagues at the same time for more games , any questions feel free “

Check your math yourself. EDP Fall Kickoff tournament is $1,050. Most tournaments are similar price. Your 10 tournaments is already $10,000. Referee fees for each league game plus the cost of the full year of EDP league. Carding to play, insurance, uniforms…. and you pay $365. Quit lying to everyone.

I wonder about that myself. Unless all the good kids just leave to play there but that sounds so unfair to the currents top clubs and Union. Oh and NOBODY does anything for free…if Union coaches cared so much about player development, they wouldn’t be involved in so much Drama.

The ECNL is a quality league that a ton of kids get recruited from for solid ncaa programs, even if some are the B teams. You have to consider the A teams are in MLS next and getting recruited by big time colleges. Also keep in mind if your kid goes to a HS like Delbarton or Pingry and the choose to play HS instead of MLS (assuming they are granted permission from club) then they are put on the ECNL team for the remainder of fall and winter.

the St. Benedict’s national championship team players are ECNL players for a time since CSA is the default club program. And that St. B’s team beat some top MLS U19 teams.

The teams that you mentioned PDA, STA and two CSA teams are in the soccer wire top 100 clubs in the country and at that level they rank based on performance across all age groups and leagues.
