The field only gets 10 yards longer, and 5 yards wider.. 5 yards of length on each side of midfield.... If kids can shoot from midfield at 7v7, they will at 9v9 as well. The increase in field size is so minimal.

Disagree on "minimal"! You even notice the difference when recording videos, harder to get a close up. A 7v7 field can be as little as 55 yards minimum and a 9v9 can be as big as 80 yards! That's 25 yards right there in the extreme case.

Depends on where you played. The fields my kids have played on have almost always been the maximum size at 7v7 and several away games in the past year were even played on 9v9 fields. Red Bull’s for example don’t use a 7v7 size field when at home or even have a build out line on the field. Maximum 7v7 size to a 9v9 size field are very minimal differences in size and with 4 more players added it’s much tighter. If you have been playing on tiny 7v7 fields like that illegally undersized AS Junior field it may be a big difference.

One would figure the smaller "illegal" AS Junior field is better and would give players even more chances to score from midfield at kickoff. 🤦

We rush these kids from 4v4 to 5v5 to 7v7 to 9v9 to 11v11.. No wonder most of the teams just play kick and run.. Should be more development at this age.

Personally I would like to watch them play 7v7 on the larger field.
After watching some 9v9 kids don't have much room to make runs into space.
That should be the next progression for a lot of kids at this age, the crowded field seems very busy.
