People love ranking and discussions on rankings, that will never change.
I never got the pedestrian 'blindly paying' money argument. What people do with their money is their business. Thankfully, the youth soccer consumer is more informed now than ever. If they make in informed choice and spend their 3K on a club, then go for it. No club is perfect - their is plenty of complaining from parents with kids on clubs all up and down the list.
Totally agree with everything you've said. There are some people out there who are personally hurt/offended when parents move their kid off of a township team to a club. Who cares. There are a lot of reasons for a parent to make that call, including that parent being an idiot and rushing to be able to say their kid is on PDA. On the other hand, maybe it was a great move for those reasons. Be informed and don't judge unless you know the rationale.

If the bigger clubs were more transparent and held proper try outs things would be different. It's the poor parents that are left in the dark not knowing if they made the right choice after the coach takes the first $700 payment.

I can only speak from experience: went from town Rec - local travel team - travel team - CSA Bergen.

The tryouts were less important to me than attending a few practices with the team to gauge level of play. The tryouts are more to flight the players (at least at CSA), it's especially useless if you can't attend to assess.

I can only speak for myself, but allowing my kid to keep playing Rec soccer would have been a disservice, that being said my other child is still playing Rec. I'm not a traditional soccer guy so maybe my approach is off, but I want my kid playing with a similar skill set as the other players, perhaps slightly better skill sets to work towards.

          100% a great move IMO.
EDP-SJSL, Mid Jersey, MOSA and some Rec programs allow for double carding-so why not have a player experience 2 levels of play? More parents of younger players are choosing this type of route this Fall. Especially as the Coronavirus club shake out is still happening. It gives people the best of both worlds in terms of level of play and insures more game play this Fall.

We tried to dual card, the politics got in the way quickly. If we had two administrations that allowed it we would have.

If a player is offered a spot after 1 try out and the coach is ready to ask for a $700 deposit within 48 hours to secure a spot that's a problem. In Europe try outs are actually a few weeks long and that is why you see the difference in talent.

                Here's the original post -

"Thanks for that info. I hadn't seen or heard that. I'm not a fan of that decision, but it is what it is, I guess. Not posting scores doesn't make everyone a winner. It only delays the inevitable and makes it harder for parents to make informed decisions regarding teams."

Pretty sure it does NOT state that anyone should use scores / standings as the only information to choose a team. You simply chose to read or process it incorrectly.

It appears that this team is the former Ft Lee Soccer 2011s.

Most likely it was a numbers issue - maybe they registered the team but couldn't get the numbers to field the team.

I heard a lot about Vistula over the years - pretty good club with good teams from what I’ve seen and heard.
