To Anyone Who Plays vs Bethesda SC ECNL

Congrats!!! No worries, you get to save yourself a long trip and less CoVid risk. So happy about this!

Montgomery County, MD will not allow any Montgomery County travel soccer club outside of MD, VA, or DC for games for the foreseeable future. Also, Clubs from outside the DMV will not be permitted to visit and play games to Montgomery County or play against Clubs based in Montgomery County.

Rut-roh. This does not bear well for ECNL. THE SCAMDEMIC continues, and continues to victimize our youth. See how easy it is for the government to take away our rights. WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

Wow. Sucks. State’s 7 day average of deaths has been in single digits for three weeks. Peaked in April, fell steadily since then, down by 75%. Same with hospitalizations.
Fell for six weeks after the peak, down three-quarters, never bent up again. In a state of 6 million. Their charts are the classic definition of bend the curve. Shows how that was a fiction in some places. This is just government saying FU to people, we’re going to keep moving the bar higher because we can.

Huh. I don’t get your logic. Looks like they want to keep those stats low by preventing the virus from coming in from other areas. Might not be a bad idea.

Where do you see this? How does a county decide something like this over the state?

It is from state. Prohibits sporting events with teams from outside the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia. Not that unusual.

No it was a county executive order. Not sure how it differs from the state order.

Evidently, it can be more restrictive by county in MD.

                  WHEREAS, on August 3, 2020 Governor Hogan issued State Executive Order 20-08-03-01 which renews the authority previously given to Maryland counties to continue to impose limitations on business and personal activities that were more restrictive than those permitted by State Executive Order 20-08-03- 01, if the political subdivision determines that it is necessary and reasonable to do so in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19;

So, a player who plays for Baltimore Celtic, Union, Celtic Union, Arlington or Pipeline that lives their can continue to play but those stuck on teams inside can't.....Sure...Makes perfect sense.

Hello, Bethesda PP popping in. The above is correct. We do not live in "MoCo" rather commute to be part of an ECNL program.

All of this is true unfortunately. This was decided by the head of the Department of Health and the Head of Homeland Security for MoCo.

Supposedly it is not just soccer but all sports. Kids must wear masks AT ALL TIMES including games and scrimmages. Parents are not allowed to spectate practices or games.

Teams can not travel out of the DMV for games. Also, teams from outside the DMV are not allowed to play in the County. Any Club/team based in MoCo is under this umbrella.

Yes, if a child plays for a club outside of Montgomery County, these rules do not apply. So Celtic, Baltimore Armour, Pipeline, Maryland United are all fine.

Sucks for our family as our season is pretty much cancelled. We even pulled our kid from practice yesterday as we decided it was not healthy to run around full speed with a mask on.

Lastly, I think the rules in Massachusetts are similar but I'm not positive.

Have a great day and weekend and be thankful you can still play if that is what you support!!!

That is just dumb. A county should not have the authority to dictate over the state. Also seems dumb as the very teams they are allowed to play against do not have this restriction and could play an out of DMV team on Sat and a MoCo team on Sun.

As for the playing in masks, really only difficult in the beginning. Different sports have used high altitude mask training for years with out issues. If you concerned you could just use a thinner mask while on the field like a t-shirt mask or one of those $2 job from Walmart.

Either way hope this mess gets settled.

I assume this a non issue anymore as some Bethesda teams were in Philly this weekend. And their games next weekend are on.
