so what is the big deal? PDA white has lost to Manalapan and Cinaminson last year. Neither team is a great team as Torpedoes lost to a D2 team PST just before covid. Plus didnt Torps lose that big girl to PDA Blue?

I’m not much of a MF fan, but these are 08s we’re talking about? Get a grip everyone. Two years from HS. Meaningless. Some of these kids won’t even still be playing in a few years. Some won’t grow much or develop much more in skills, others will shoot up and gain new physical abilities like crazy and everything will change. Not even close to meaningful at this point.

What most of you people seem to forget is that most of these Torpedoes players and kids from Wyckoff have been core players for clubs like PDA for years. The 07,08 teams at Torpedoes have excellent coaches so more have stayed close to home, the Ramapo HS teams have always been one of the top programs in the state. Wyckoff/ Franklin Lakes has been cranking out quality players for years and Torpedoes was often their starting club. It’s a fact and anyone who has been around youth soccer is aware of this. Just check the rich history of Ramapo HS soccer, both boys and girls.

Why are EDP clubs getting better relative to ECNL clubs? I don’t think Covid can be blamed, as it seems to be a trend over the last 3-5 years.

It was the GDA. Everyone that’s been around youth soccer knows this. EDP was a beneficiary because the “elite” leagues were watered down and parents knew it. No need to leave an EDP club for a more mediocre ECNL club anymore. The GAis delaying the recovery, if it ever recovers.
