Find a club/team that plays fall while you wait on those playing in HS. It really isn't that hard. You panty waste snowflakes think that your kid should be playing with their team only and that the club/league owes you that. Morning...Reality....
Yeah that happens all over/not reality Mr. Reality.

Face it, some coaches only care about winning so if the older player is stronger they'll get PT. Needless to say it doesn't go over well with the parents of younger kids. But at the same time it's not the player's fault they were born in the wrong month for USSF

So the issue is and always been that this singles out a group of kids who can’t play in the fall for two seasons. The reality is nobody is going pro so the point is to keep the kids active and make the playing field as level as possible. Under Current rules it’s not equitable. Give the few kids hurt by this a chance to play. Most clubs don’t offer u15 fall teams. That’s the reality.

If the younger team's coach told the team before the year that there was a chance that some older kids would play over the winter (or whatever time period), and this is the policy, then I would be okay with it. Just be honest about the number, the length of time, if they would be starting or not (they shouldn't be in my opinion), and how much PT they'll be getting (they shouldn't be playing majority of games).

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIf you are a grade-up on your teammates, then there is no issue, because a 9th grader on a team full of 8th graders is able to join their high school team like all 9th graders can, or they can choose to play club in the fall with their 8th grade teammates and skip HS. The issue that trapped players in the current birth-year system is that the trapped 8th grader has nowhere to play at all (they can't play down a year, and they can't play HS).

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe bigger issue for those trapped 8th graders is when they get to junior year. Those juniors who are trying to get recruited to play college soccer will be on teams with a bunch of seniors who have already committed and have no motivation to attend spring showcases, so often times those teams can't get enough players together to travel to the bigger showcases. Many of those U18/19 teams skip the spring showcases altogether, and many of the bigger showcases (like PDA Memorial Day Weekend) don't even have a U18 bracket. Some leagues/showcases like ECNL allow those players to play in U17 brackets within their own club, but many others do not.
