College coaches often go to showcases targeting specific class-years, and with her being the only one her year on the team, she had a lot of trouble getting coaches to come to our games since there wouldn't be others her class to watch.
I’m sure there will be many more twists and turns along the way but thanks for pointing that out.

So clearly this is a problem. Obviously the difference in the school cut off and the “newer” birth year initiative in soccer just don’t jive. So my question is are leagues that don’t have something in place for these players not know, or not care? I have to think they ultimate altruistic goals of everyone involved is to have kids play more soccer because it’s good for them.
Up to this point I have read that ecnl is the only league that addresses this issue. Anyone have any other information on other leagues?

Having said that, now that the GDA is gone, USSF should switch back to school year carding.

In the long run it's better for the game. I want as many kids playing as possible. Almost none of them will go pro or make the NT or even play in college. But if they can play it, enjoy it and carry that positivity into adulthood we might actually build a soccer culture.

WTH people...How is this EDPs fault or problem? They run leagues for the age groups in the fall. Want someone to blame....blame your club for not having a solution in place to handle a known issue. EDP had almost 450 teams between boy and girls register at u15 so obviously their are teams that play in the fall.
And obviously you people don't see the issues with going back. At least before you could stay with your team and move up. Now, years later, the chaos that will happen.....
Case in point - Ds team has about 12 out of 16 that would combine with the year above which has 13 out of 18. The B team of the year up is all Aug-Dec babies while almost all of her age B team are Jan-July babies....The almost all of those B teams would then become a C and D team which means they would most certainly quit.

And there you have it! You only care that your daughter might get moved to a B team. Let’s not worry about the kids that have no choice and were literally screwed by the birth year change. You want the kids who were affected by the birth year change to switch teams so they can have an 8th grade season?? But you don’t want your D to have to switch teams??

And yes, going back to birth year will cause a single disruption as teams need to be reformed. This needs to happen once, and then it solves the vast majority of problems caused by the birth-year switch. Those players who you think might quit might also find another club/team that needs them. This issue happens once, and then it's fixed...as opposed to happening to 1/3 of every 8th grade player out there looking to play fall soccer.

For the 8th grader who is missing a fall season with their regular team because it is made up mostly of 9th graders who are playing HS, the only "option" they have is to find a team that plays in a league that allows these trapped 8th graders to play down an age-group (like ECNL does). Asking why EDP doesn't do this is a legit question considering how big EDP is getting. Merging clubs at the 8th grade and above doesn't solve the problem of the trapped 8th graders who have no league that gives them a chance to play.
They do get to practice with the younger teams.
Also not all middle schools have teams...

Find a club/team that plays fall while you wait on those playing in HS. It really isn't that hard. You panty waste snowflakes think that your kid should be playing with their team only and that the club/league owes you that. Morning...Reality....
