Clubs like “PDA and Stars won’t let competitors in.” Nefc was in. They chose to leave and then they chose not to come back when they had opportunity. That’s on them.

NEFC was never in. FC Stars has blocked them from the beginning. Both FCV and TopHat were in and now they are on their knees. Best players have moved to other ECNL Clubs. They serve as a reminder about loyalty and commitment.

So, the link on the GAL website to the announcement about the new commissioner is now disabled. I don't want to read too much into that, but not a good sign.

Boston Breaker was in ECNL. Breakers was essentially the same club as NEFC. U littles at NEFC/ECNL age and up at Breakers. breakers folded. NEFC was given ok for the following year to rebrand Boston Breakers in ECNL. Semantics. They just needed to change their jersey. Same kids and same club ownership.

Boston Breaker was in ECNL. Breakers was essentially the same club as NEFC. U littles at NEFC/ECNL age and up at Breakers. breakers folded. Hopefully within two years we can just have USYS and ECNL. Both having regulation structure within leagues and eventually having path to play in on cup format. GAL needs to go away for the future of girls soccer. Key to development.

Wasn't NEFC at one point Boston Breakers or merged with them and weren't they ECNL?

Greed, plain and simple. No reason these very same clubs couldn't have joined USYS and just changed their own clubs format to the 4 day a week and extras they claim the DA/GA offered like tactical training, game review and recorded matches. In a year or two these clubs could have dominated USYS with this platform and maybe forced other 2-day/wk clubs to adapt to compete making the top end better. Instead they formed a league with questionable talented teams and scared off talent. Time will tell if this is a good idea. GDA folded inside of 3yrs. Issue will be, will these clubs realize when it is failing and be willing to admit it?

Current USYS structure isn't hard to understand. For us in EDP land, All USYS divisions will be able to compete in national events. Top teams in USYS along with winners from other leagues will be able to compete in the regional and national championships. Making USYS the largest national series so the best teams will compete against other best teams across the nation.
