Sorry your kid is in ECRL .... the league blows. Composite teams ... and extension of ECRL where the stupid parents and kids who paid the price for 8 years on ECRL and actually hung around long enough, finally get an ECNL sleeve patch to tout to bad D3 coaches so they can continue the illusion and hot mess of talented soccer.

D was on ECRL/NE NPL for many years, going to a great D3 school and soccer program in the fall (top 20 in D3 ranking). Never got a patch, but never really cared for one anyways.

Honestly if you’re talented enough the league is completely irrelevant for playing D3. Some D3 programs are begging for players!

D3 soccer at the strong academic schools is very competitive for roster spots. Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Williams, Amherst, Tufts, Swarthmore, NYU etc all very strong, better than lower-level D1 soccer programs.

Agree and that’s why spending thousands upon thousands of $$$$ on pay to play ECNL academies chasing something like this just does not make economic sense.

Depends. If you are looking at it from an ROI perspective, no it doesn't make sense.

If you are looking at it from an enjoyment perspective, well it's tough to put a dollar value on that. I know families who spend much more on ski vacations and trips and equipment than they do soccer, with no intent other than they enjoy it.

I would caution 99% of the players out there will never meet a pure ROI of moneys spent vs. benefits provided in the form of some scholarship. The finances just aren't there. And, even if you were one of the few who actually gets money to play in college, for most of those it still won't reach the cash outlay you spent for the previous 8-12 years.

Play because you enjoy it, and pick the level that meets your wants and needs.

So so true and very well spoken. Enjoy where you play regardless of league! If anyone tells you “you have to play here, in order to get to play in college” run, run like the wind. Those are the people that just want your $$. Find the right coach and team for you, ultimately that will lead to the enjoyment! Not the amount you spend or the league you play in (especially if someone tells you you HAVE to play there). I hate it when I hear coaches at academies say well if you don’t come play here then you’ll have no chance to play in college. Simply not true....

Also, for these strong-academic schools, you can also look at it as a way to improve your chances at admissions.

Blah blah blah. Always here the same nonsense from non ecnl clubs desperate for good unwitting players. Ecnl is the best platform for anyone interested in playing soccer in college. Period. Let’s move on and cut the crap.

Correct ECNL is best, morons play in other leagues. PDA best in country, Rutgers best in country. Period end of story.

The best girls from the richest families are not playing PDA. They are going to Barcelona to train at Barca. Fly out of Teterboro every weekend.

I didn't know Jeff Bezos' daughter playing soccer.

Let’s be real, if any of us could afford it we would move to Spain or England for daughters to play. And if not then you just don’t love your daughter enough.

Sarcasm in case anyone really things this.
