The whole “you have to play in league X“ in order to get looks is just propaganda aimed at protecting brand and business therefore $$$. Just focus on playing for the right team, club and coach, regardless of which of these 3 leagues you play in.
Be an athlete, play multiple sports and don't put all your eggs in one basket. If I was a college coach, I certainly want athletes who I can continuously train and make better vs a kid who can is really good at toe taps and dribbling in a 4x4 box!

Be a good athlete and get exposure in other sports makes you more of an all around athlete and gives you additional touchpoints in terms of exposure.

How many kids have you see play soccer that literally don't know how to run properly, its embarrassing. Learn how to sprint properly and how to run middle/longer distances.

You people sound like a bunch of desperate coaches trying to get kids to choose your failing league over another failing league. GAL is not panning she out. The sooner you admit it, the sooner you can get your team into USYS. When you run tryouts by saying, send us a video and you will have a spot on our GAL team, you are admitting your league is a sham. USYS will be the 3 rd best league, no doubt. ECNL, ECRL and then USYS will round out the top3 choices for parents

Not panning out? It's freakin' June for fvck's sake.

How/why are you so concerned with a league you are not a part of, have no desire to be a part of, and have no direct inner-workings of?

Nobody on here is advocating for GAL; quite the opposite...more of the same ongoing campaign by the ECNL crowd to control the masses.

Certainly two distinct sides to that coin. Most of the greatest players in the world (not ALL) spend every minute playing that singular sport. Every minute playing basketball means the person you are competing with spends those minutes crafting their soccer touch. That cannot be denied

Conversely, to your point, a well-rounded athlete is the result of the player who plays multiple sports. That, also, cannot be denied.

And still no one answered the original question about which USYS-NL team is worthy of a solid player to tryout for vs a GA team.

I can only think of one in NJ with real chops and that is Real NJ. The rest of the teams are mediocre at best.

In New jersey, you have very few choices. PDA BLUE, PDA white, PDA SouthECNL(now), Matchfit ECNL, Real NJ, STA, CSA North/south, SouthJersey EliteBarrons.

Those are your choices folks and that is where parents should be looking to see if your child is a proper fit.

I have a much smaller list of ecnl-only since really just looking for best exposure. No interest in usys at all. Would go ECRL first with hopes of eventually cracking ecnl roster. That is best advice at all age groups.

Strangely enough it’s even looked down upon even within ECNL clubs.
Just curious when you actually see this happen?

PSA Wildcats 06 beat two ECNL teams in one weekend, Real 06 has done it too several times, Philly Coppa, Howell, GPS, Westchester, West Morris have all done it as well at the 05 age group and are regularly placed in brackets loaded with ECNL teams, and some top ones too like PDA, WCFC....so I guess they ain’t so good right????

They are mediocre playing mediocre Ecnl teams. They would not be my first choice when advising a parent where to take their daughter for tryouts in NJ.

Fwiw, that same PSA Wildcats 06 team lost to PDA Shore around the same time. PDA Shore, by most accounts, is PDA's 6th team (after PDA Blue, White, ECRL Blue, White, South).

Lolol....mediocre ECNL teams??? I thought they were all great in the best league in the World! Funny how when so called “inferior” clubs/teams beat ECNL teams those teams are not that good all of the sudden! Thanks for highlighting ECNL is watered down, can you imagine how bad ECRL is if top flight ECNL teams lose to inferior teams from inferior leagues like EDP???

Also can you imagine how stupid Jeff Cup, Bethesda etc are to place these inferior EDP teams with top level ECNL clubs like PDA, WCFC, Richmond etc... in the 1st or 2nd brackets? They really lost their minds....

Listen I agree should not have lost to Shore and yes I get it they are at the bottom of the PDA pyramid. Every team has a bad day though. My point is about ECNL....they’re are a lot of teams in that league that regularly lose to teams from other leagues, so for everyone that touts ECNL as the end all and be all, that is simply not the case.

Doesn’t matter. No one sees usys teams play. Ecnl is much better exposure no matter if they occasionally have a bad game. Get your child to ecnl tryouts followed by RL, and that’s about it. Go lacrosse after that.
