    Jefferson Cup on for August

Hard to know what to make of this. Will any colleges be sending coaches to an August tournament? They are not even letting families know what the fall plan is for academics , much less sports until mid July in many cases.

The short answer is yes there will be some colleges there but extremely limited in numbers. Budgets are being slashed anyway and training camps for most schools are slated to begin that same week. So don’t expect much other than some toasty temps playing on turf in August in Richmond VA.

I would expect not to attend in that case.

If the team is going might as well make the best of it and go to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. Take a few days before and/or after and make it a mini vacation.

Dont see many non local teams blowing a chunk of their showcase budget on an event with minimal participation from colleges. probably more of a localized tourney this year.

New teams maybe but what about those that already paid back in March? Think many will just eat the registration fee?

Yes. The registration fee is not the major cost for distant teams that attend. It is the travel costs. And the no refund at all policy is not exactly creating a lot of warm fuzzy feelings about the jeff cup right now.

I’d rather play loca and forego anybrefund of the tournament fee. I do not want to go to Virginia at all.

It’s a U10-U14 tournament. Do college coaches go to these?

Not really...college coaches aren't scouting hoards of 13/14 year olds these days. The ones they are tracking at that age are "top" players that have been identified through YNT events, NTCs & maybe ID2 but they scout them at those mentioned events, not Jeff Cup.
