    Return to play

Does someone have the return to play guidelines for training ? I know June 22 is the return and I remember seeing something about phases. Do you anticipate games or tournaments this summer for your child’s team? Thanks !

Here is a link to the NJYS info page as well.

Looks like it is possible game may happen by August but I think that will all depend on what schools end up doing in NJ. If schools are remote again for the Fall I would guess that there would be no fall soccer.

Blurred lines - is a club's yearly contract with parents the same throughout the state?
some are from 7/1 through 6/31 or 8/1 through 7/31

return to play training is June 22, but if you're leaving the club or the club's contract runs out July 1, why would the club hold training?

They are training in June to justify not refunding your money for the spring season.

June 22 will start phase 3 of njys guidelines. That is no contract and social distance training. They expect to move to phase 4 which is scrimmage and small sided games. This is where it's sticky as EDP is planning tournaments then so they may be able to play games by then or Aug 1. One issue no one has addressed is what the protocol is for a positive COVID-19 test. Waiting on nj bd of health to respond. Going to be tough for school and travel if they say 14 day quarantine for everyone who was in contact. Imagine 5 games in to the school season and current team and last 2 opponents have to wait 2 weeks? Hs season will end a month early as it is. No go answer here.

With NJ speeding up the easing of restrictions, especially today with the stay at home order dropped and expecting to expand outdoor gatherings to 500 by July 3rd... And all the other odd rule changes...I believe that August games are a reality and Mid to late July are possible, but probably not practical with timing.

EDP social media this afternoon was teasing “big announcements” soon. Unless there is a “significant uptick” in cases, It feels like Phase 3 will be mid-July. I think if the cases do not uptick significantly from all the protests and again from 4th of July, there will be no way politically to stop that from happening. I know all the soccer associations have put out lengthy guidelines for return to play, but NONE of them have said you won’t be insured if you don’t follow them. The insurance is stipulated on gov guidelines. The moment those restrictions are lifted, games will be played.

As for those who now want to talk about how this is irresponsible or risky for their children....please keep them home. Please stay safe. I cannot wait to see u on the pitch when u are ready. This will be my family making an informed (my wife is a Dr.) decision for us that we feel comfortable with.
