How are these ECNL clubs handling the influx of all these new players jumping ship? Are they being upfront with the parents of the current players? Teams can only roster 18 players for each game. Having a roster size of 25-30 players for both the A & B teams is just not sustainable. I just don't get why parents fall for this trap. So many kids will find themselves on C teams playing god knows where.

It depends on the club, let’s be honest. PDA White was the official 2nd team. They have picked up the better players from CSA and STA. They told players 12-20 that they belonged on the 2nd team and that getting more play time would be better for them. Also, players simply can not afford to return, and that also opens spots.

MO at PDA has a simple rule. if I'm going to take you on my Blue team, do you add to the first 12 or 13 players. If not you're on white. So even if you're comparable to a blue player, it's not enough, you have to really add to the mix. Not many can do this at the older age groups, so most are white team destined after a certain age.

and that's not a bad thing but you're on the second team. And you are treated like the second team.

            A couple things:

-The ECNL has 110 clubs or whatever now...there is nothing elite about that. It's watered down. The MidAtlantic division is geared for PDA to steamroll everyone.
-Taking a B team spot at a club like PDA or Penn Fusion is a complete and total dead end. The ECRL is horrendous. Look at how the B teams for PF, Delco, Bucks, etc did last year...don't waste your money. Literally, you might as burn it. The B teams at PF are god awful. Same for SJEB...same for Delco....same for Bucks. It's embarassing. Don't waste your time. Go to a smaller club and pay for private training.
-GDL has potential to really be something great, but can they build momentum long enough to attract elite players who hit U-13 and have to decide between ECNL and GDL?
-Any good club like SJEB, PDA, PF have good training environments bc they typically have good players who make it good. All of these clubs scrimmage for 30 mins (minimum). Some coaches are better than others...that's the difference and its typically small.

              - 110 clubs nationally is a little more than 2 clubs per state. Certainly can still be considered elite. Agree that MidAtlantic conference is weak compared to other conferences, but it is the exception not the rule.
              - B teams have been awful, but with ECRL will change. In the past, it was a test league for ECNL with limited roll-out. Presumably now they are rolling it out nationally with many conferences being made up of club A teams trying to prove themselves to get to ECNL. Eventually, ECRL MidAtlantic and Northeast will take on this model.
              - GDL picked an unfortunate year to start with COVID19. If it struggles to pick up traction with colleges this and next year, it will be stuck as a 2nd tier league.
              - Clubs that have their own facilities have a big advantage in training, where teams can train and scrimmage frequently with other teams at the club.

If the second team at Zerapath gets treated badly can you imagine the misfit satellite locations like Shore...they deserve more respect but get treated like crap even amongst PDA parents. I’ve had North parents inadvertently say to me that they think Shore is basically Toms River 2.0 and nothing else just an advertisement for the big club.

GDL potential? Not as long as they are picking up clubs like LI, Sporting DE and Ukrainians. What's next? BOCA and PSA? Adding another league while USYS consolidates non-ECNL leagues into it's regional/national series was just poor planning. Colleges are not going to have the funds to send someone to events for every league. USYS will get the next best chunk vs GA.

Agree fully that B teams on lesser clubs are horrendous. Quick glance between fall and spring shows just about every SJEB Rush B team was relegated down a division while the ones that weren't were close to it. And personally I can't stand the fact that our club has the A scrimmage the B and the coaches barely watch or correct anything while it turns into a blood bath with players standing still while 1 A team player weaves in and out of the B team and scores. Plus when they don't scrimmage the B team they'll play the A team from the year under them. Which I guess would be fine if the players weren't in the process of puberty so 1 team is noticeably larger than the other and it shows when they play. How does that help the older team? We didn't pay all that money for coaches to use our kids to make another team better while not doing the same for ours.

USYS has never been able to step as the second best league. what makes you think they are going to do it now?

Just look at the quality of the league. This is not the same usys. That’s obvious to anyone with knowledge.

Hopefully not. I always love to watch our $1200/yr town club team kicking those $3000/$4000 "elite" team's butts.

That’s a bit far fetched, more like EDP 2nd Div!
