    It’s a big wish list.

What a well thought out soccer landscape should look like.

The age change mandate does indeed need to be revisited.

Their is history between PDA and CSA that lead to the creation of CSA and why it rose so fast. PDA would never allow CSA into ECNL unless they knew they would crush them for years to come.

I won't vouch for the "crush them" declaration, but yes the rise of GDA is a direct result of PDA, Stars, and a few other clubs.

The fall of GDA will also be the direct result of them as well. In the end, they won. Hope we are all happy throwing our support behind them as they laugh their asses off cashing our checks.

Actually they have zero to do with girls side folding. This is all the effect of the boys side wrapping it up. No need to just fund girls side.

Didn't ECNL move away from having clubs involved in the application process? I thought there was a club neutral panel in place.

In theory, yes. But, the Gang of Three are still on the board and they won't do anything that will affect their bottom line.

The "history" between these clubs has to do more with the owner of CSA and his disliking of PDA. He sunk millions into CSA (new fields, buying clubs) just to try to crush them.

Agreed PDA is very threatened by the vast success of the CSA owner so they are a bit insecure about letting CSA in. It’s a real shame since CSA girls would be a great fit in ECNL right up there with PDA and perhaps better in some age groups.

I have no dog in the PDA vs CSA Monmouth battle....and dude you are OUT OF YOUR MIND. There are no CSA teams that would beat PDA at the real ages (U13-U17). PDA could play a man down and still beat every CSA team from U13 to U17. You CSA Monmouth folks are DELUSIONAL.

Amen to that. The CSA Monmouth girls 09 parents are so far off the grid it’s ludicrous. Talking about winning national championships at 10 years old. Recruiting girls from Pennsylvania and paying full tuition for them. I wonder how these parents will feel when this press release hits in the next day or two. Smooth.

although still not the official announcement, this is in the Athletic:

The U.S. Soccer Federation has decided to shut down the U.S. Soccer Development Academy program for both boys and girls, effective immediately, multiple sources told The Athletic on Tuesday.

Current MLS clubs and academy directors from some of the non-professional clubs that were part of the inaugural Development Academy season in 2007 have already been informed of the decision to shut down the league.

Sources said that U.S. Soccer could announce the shutdown as soon as Wednesday. The federation’s reasons for shutting down the DA, which includes hundreds of boys and girls teams ranging from the under-13 to under-19 age groups, were not immediately clear. Rumors of the change first appeared last Thursday from Glenn Crooks, New York City FC’s radio play-by-play announcer and a contributor to ProSoccerUSA.

The 2019-20 DA season was cut short due to the global COVID-19 outbreak, and the sources confirmed that it will not resume at any point. Under normal circumstances, the 2020-21 season was set to kick off in September.

All 26 current MLS teams, including the league’s three Canadian clubs, participate in the boys’ DA. It’s not clear what will happen to MLS academies now that the DA is no more, though, for a number of years, a segment of MLS teams have pushed to break away from the DA to start their own, MLS-only academy league. The main reason for this was due to their perception that the DA did not offer a strong enough level of competition.

U.S. Soccer founded a girls’ DA in 2017. In recent months, multiple clubs left the girls’ DA to join the Elite Clubs National League, a competing organization founded in 2009 by directors of coaching for multiple clubs across the country, and includes many of the nation’s top clubs. There is also a boys’ branch of the ECNL, though it is far less robust than the girls’ division

So, in other words, nothing new. Exact same retread story from an ECNL-based original source.
